Furst-McNess Company is looking to add a full-time Production Operator at our Storm Lake, IA location. This role operates production equipment, follows established procedures, maintains a clean and safe work environment, and supports daily plant operations. Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Previous manufacturing, production, warehouse, or related experience is preferred
  • Experience operating industrial equipment, or willingness to learn and operate equipment safely
  • Forklift certification preferred; willingness to obtain certification with company support
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English
  • Perform basic math calculations
  • Strong attention to detail with a commitment to quality, safety, and teamwork
  • Effective teamwork, communication, and reliability skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities
  • Willingness to work in an indoor warehouse environment with temperature fluctuations due to seasonal weather conditions
  • Ability to lift up to 70 lbs., work at heights, and perform physical tasks in an industrial environment

  • Education equivalent to high school diploma and six months of basic manufacturing experience.
  • Ability to read, write, and understand English and perform basic mathematical calculations.
  • Ability to ascend ladders and various heights using stairs, elevated walkways and/or elevators.
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, pull and/or stoop up to 70 lbs. of material on a regular or continuous basis.
  • Ability to maneuver heavy loads (up to 2,000 lbs. pallets) with a pallet jack; safely operate all equipment along with being a certified forklift operator.
  • Ability to perform cleaning operations while exposed to dusty environment, and ability to wear/use all appropriate protective equipment. Ability to enter confined spaces.
  • Ability to learn and comply with GMP and regulatory requirements imposed on manufacturing facilities by the FDA, OSHA and EPA in regard to manufacturing of food and drug products.
  • Ability to work overtime as requested or required.
  • Good communication skills, both oral and written, and is capable of utilizing these skills within all levels of the Company as well as externally.
  • Ability to provide outstanding customer service to all associates and management staff, showing a sense of urgency relative to solving problems, performing assigned tasks, employee concerns, etc.
  • Ability to effectively organize work schedules and manage multiple assignments by utilizing time management skills to ensure day-to-day assignments and special projects are completed within guidelines agreed upon.
  • Ability to work as an effective team member within the premix department and company, as a whole. Willingness to pitch in and do work that may not be a specific part of the job description for the overall good of the department and company.
  • Ability to be flexible and be willing to change along with recommending changes that can enhance our ability to serve both internal and external customers more effectively and in a professional manner. Respect other peoples’ points of view and able to take constructive criticism.

Responsibilities

  • Operate manufacturing, production, and packaging equipment
  • Package product and stack bags or bulk product onto pallets
  • Measure, prepare and add materials according to work instructions
  • Operate forklifts and pallet jacks to move materials and finished goods
  • Assist with mixing or production processes as trained
  • Load and unload bulk materials from trucks or other deliveries
  • Perform routine equipment checks, report maintenance needs, and assist with basic repairs when trained
  • Follow inventory procedures and repair damaged bags or pallets as needed
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area; complete daily and weekly housekeeping tasks and documentation
  • Complete production, quality, and safety documentation accurately and on time
  • Follow all safety guidelines, wear required PPE, equipment lockout/tagout, and comply with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and regulatory requirements
  • Collaborate with team members and supervisors to meet production goals and resolve issues
  • Perform other duties as assigned
