What you will experience at GE Appliances: The responsibility of the Production Operator can include but not be limited to the following: Operate on the line interacting and cooperating with other team members to complete job tasks on different models of the same product moving along the line. Perform repetitive line assembly operations to assemble product quickly to approved specifications. Utilize wide range of powered-hand tools to assembly check, adjust or repair appliances. Various general assembly activities including: driving screws and/or assembling other fasteners; applying tape, insulation or other materials; assembling/fastening wire harnesses, terminating wires; checking, adjusting, or repairing sub or final assemblies; testing and/or packaging of sub or final assemblies. Inspect work to verify quality and conformance to required specifications. Complete daily 5S requirements. The factory is not climate controlled – conditions may be hot or cold.

Requirements

  • Be 18 years of age or older
  • Be legally authorized to work in the United States without restriction
  • Be able to understand verbal and written instructions in English
  • Must be willing to work overtime during the weekday and periodic weekend shifts to support the business needs with advance notice.
  • Pass a background check, drug screening and complete and pass a medical health questionnaire
  • You must have the ability to perform the essential functions of the position, with or without an accommodation, including, but not limited to: Constantly standing; frequently handling various parts for assembly; frequently reaching at waist level, pushing/pulling, grasping, pinching, and fine motor dexterity; occasionally sitting, walking, reaching overhead, reaching at shoulder level, reaching at knee and floor level, bending, stooping, squatting, crouching, kneeling, crawling, ladder/stair climbing, pivoting, twisting, and neck flexion/extension/rotation. Handling and lifting parts and/or equipment – minimum of 42 lbs., carrying 42 lbs., and 35 lbf . pushing /pulling is .
  • Ability to work with parts/equipment which may be hot and/or wet.
  • Must be able to access required areas pertaining to job including, but not limited to: foam rooms, chemicals, high noise, and other areas of the plant.
  • Work on and around heavy machinery in a loud environment
  • Follow work rules, using judgement, and working quickly and efficiently to meet work deadlines, even under stressful conditions
  • Function independently and maintain attention and concentration
  • Be able to relate predictability in social situations, to coworkers, and to complex and simple job instructions and processes that may be written or verbal .
  • Basic Technology skills will be needed to utilize company systems to independently complete onboarding and basic HR tasks on electronic devices with or without an accommodation .
