About The Position

A qualified Cabler Operator has knowledge of all types of large cabling tubular, planetary and buncher machine processing styles, and is capable of setting up and operating each machine style to manufacture cable constructions with an infinite amount of component elements. The Cabler Operator performs all tasks in conformance with posted instructions and required documentation. The operator is expected to detect faulty machine operation, defective materials or process problems and communicate to the supervisor.

  • Capable of setting up and operating each machine style to manufacture cable constructions with an infinite amount of component elements.

Responsibilities

  • Perform diversified duties to set up and operate tubular, planetary and bunching type large cabling machines to produce product in accordance with manufacturing instruction sheets (MIT’s) and technical processing information.
  • Demonstrate a working knowledge of the large cabling machines including taping machines (horizontal and vertical), drain wire applicator heads, capstans, payoffs, cradles, takeups, traversing system, brakes and hoist lifting units.
  • Mount payoff reels on power payoffs, neutralizer payoffs or cradle payoffs, thread machine through closing dies, taping machines and drain wire applicator to takeup reel and insure proper finished reel traverse packages.
  • Change gearing or input data into electronic controller unit to obtain specified lay.
  • Set-up tapes, bindings, fillers, markers and drain wires as specified.
  • Attend to machine during operation, making adjustments to all machine tensioning equipment and cable/ tape lays as necessary. Change payoff and takeup reels, tapes and fillers as required.
  • Perform cabling tasks in conformity with the quality inspection checklist, the manufacturing instruction sheet (MIT), the safety work practice summary, cabling scrap procedures and the cabling set-up sheets.
  • Complete workcenter documentation, including OD chart forms, length sheets, traveler reel tags, traceability sheets/tags, labor reporting sheets, scrap tickets and any other necessary documentation.
