About The Position

Charter Steel is hiring for a Billet Conditioner in the Melting Department. This role involves working a 12-hour night shift from 4:30 pm to 4:30 am, rotating through different positions. The job requires physical work, comfort with heat, and a commitment to doing the job correctly. The company is a fourth-generation, family-owned business focused on growth and continuous improvement, seeking dependable individuals to be part of their steel manufacturing process.

Requirements

  • A high school diploma or GED
  • Comfortable with basic math (like counting and simple calculations).
  • Team player who works well and communicates with others.
  • Background in manufacturing or industrial production, assembly, warehouse, welding, construction, metals, steel, or other hands on jobs.
  • Strong safe work mindset.

Nice To Haves

  • Forklift & Overhead Crane experience is a plus!

Responsibilities

  • Rotate through different positions throughout 12-hour shift.
  • Use power tools to remove kerf from billets.
  • Apply ID tags using a welding torch and mark billets with chalk.
  • Place chains and spacer bars between billets.
  • Perform quality inspections.
  • Operate an overhead crane.
