About The Position

This is a full-time position for a Production Operator III on the 1st shift, working from 7:00 PM to 3:30 AM. The role involves using established documentation, tools, quality, and production concepts in accordance with safety procedures to set up, start up, and run machines for packaging functions, including assembly and downstream packaging automation equipment. The operator will maintain good quality and high production rates, establish process parameters, use hand and air tools, troubleshoot minor mechanical issues, and maintain a clean and safe work environment. Adherence to plant Health, Safety, and Quality guidelines, including GMP, is required. For SQF Certified Sites, additional responsibilities include understanding cGMPs and Good Hygiene Personnel Practices, performing basic sanitation, meeting company and regulatory requirements (HACCP, SQF), identifying and reporting food safety or quality issues, initiating action to prevent nonconformities, and controlling nonconforming products. Employees must also follow all Food Fraud/Food Defense Policies and have a thorough understanding of all company policies, including GMPs, safety policies, HACCP, and SQF.

Requirements

  • High School or Vo-Tech School graduate and 5+ years production operations experience.
  • 2-year technical degree or 3-5 years’ experience with machines that perform one or more packaging functions, both assembly and downstream packaging automation equipment.
  • Basic understanding of the cGMPs and Good Hygiene Personnel Practices
  • Log in to DELMIAWorks (formerly IQMS) and enter production data and complete production forms (batch record)
  • Read, understand and follow documents such as safety rules, operating & maintenance instructions, and procedures.
  • Apply basic math skills: add, subtract, multiply, and divide.
  • Carry out instructions provided in written, oral, or visual/diagram form.
  • Self-motivated, conscientious, with a results-oriented mindset.
  • Good organizational and communication skills to work independently and also in a team environment.
  • Ability to use measuring devices such as Comparator, Dial indicator, Go/No Go gauges.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment with demonstrated ability to handle and prioritize multiple tasks and demands.
  • Strong technical aptitude, as well as analytical and problem-solving skills to trouble shoot and solve problems.
  • Sound judgment - ability to work efficiently with many competing demands.
  • Ability to speak clearly and effectively before groups of employees, customers and auditors as needed.
  • The ability to read, write, and comprehend information provided.
  • Knowledge of and/or previous experience in a manufacturing environment is a plus!

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience in an ISO 9001 and/or 13485 manufacturing environment.
  • Experience leading process improvement initiatives or projects.

Responsibilities

  • Use established documentation, tools, quality and production concepts in accordance with established safety procedures, to set up, start up and run machines that perform one or more packaging functions, both assembly and downstream packaging automation equipment.
  • Effectively operate equipment as required.
  • Maintain good quality and high production rates.
  • Establish process parameters in various secondary operations equipment as needed.
  • Use applicable hand tools and air tools, to perform sampling, set up, start up and running production functions.
  • Troubleshoot and fix minor mechanical issues.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
  • Adhere to and communicate to others all plant Health, Safety and Quality guidelines and GMP.
  • Perform Basic Sanitation Functions
  • Perform all duties necessary to meet Company, and or Regulatory Requirements / standards as prioritized by the Company, HACCP, and SQF.
  • Notify SQF Practitioner/Quality Manager or any other Management personnel of ANY Food Safety or Quality issues.
  • Identify problems relating to Food Safety and the Quality of the raw material, processes, quality system, or safety system, by performing Production/Quality Checks as assigned.
  • Initiate action to prevent the occurrence of nonconformities relating to Food Safety and the Quality of the product, processes, quality system, or safety system.
  • Execute and follow the HOLD SOP.
  • Control further processing or delivery of nonconforming product in terms of Food Safety and Quality issues until the deficiency or unsatisfactory condition has been corrected.
  • Follow all Food Fraud/food Defense Policies while on company property.
  • Onboard, develop and train Production Operator I & II
  • Prioritize, plan, organize and coordinate work with Production Operator I & II as needed.
  • Lead quality improvement projects.
  • Effectively communicate with supervisor.
