About The Position

The Production Operator III performs multiple processes involved in manufacturing technical ceramics and/or metals according to work order specifications. The role works within a team to meet departmental goals and maintains a clean work area. The operator uses complex or varied production equipment, inspects products against quality and customer specifications, moves parts through processes using computer software, and handles product with material-moving equipment. The position also includes training incoming operators and wearing required personal protective equipment in designated areas.

Requirements

• A minimum of 1 year of applicable manufacturing experience.
• Ability to understand and act on verbal and/or written instructions.
• Ability to read and interpret standard and metric measurements.
• Intermediate math skills, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
• Deep knowledge of handheld measuring equipment such as micrometers, calipers, and drop gauges, and advanced measuring equipment such as SmartScope or CMM.
• Ability to use Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing to read and understand the relationship between complex blueprints and parts.
• Attention to detail and excellent listening skills.
• Ability to work with a diverse variety of people from different cultures and backgrounds.

Nice To Haves

• High school diploma or equivalent (preferred, but not necessary).

Responsibilities

• Operate multiple complex production machines or a variety of production equipment to manufacture parts in compliance with work order instructions.
• Make machine adjustments and contact the appropriate person when needed.
• Inspect parts to determine whether products meet quality and customer specifications.
• Take appropriate action regarding parts that do not meet quality or customer standards and recommend solutions to the appropriate person.
• Transfer parts to the next process using computer software.
• Load, unload, and stack product.
• Transport product using a hand truck, forklift, crane, or hoist.
• Clean the work area, machines, tools, and equipment.
• Train incoming operators on processes and procedures.
• Wear required personal protective equipment at all times in areas where it is mandatory.
