About The Position

The Production Operator I is a full-time position responsible for ensuring product quality and safety. This role involves inspecting and packing products, performing visual and dimensional sampling, labeling, and tracking quantities. The operator will communicate any issues to the process technician or supervisor, operate equipment as required, and maintain a clean and safe work environment. Adherence to plant Health, Safety, and Quality guidelines, including GMP, is essential. For SQF Certified Sites, a basic understanding of cGMPs, Good Hygiene Personnel Practices, and performing basic sanitation functions is required. This includes notifying relevant personnel of any repairs, adjustments, food safety or quality issues, and initiating action to prevent nonconformities. The operator must be able to execute and follow the HOLD SOP, controlling nonconforming product until corrected, and adhere to all Food Fraud/Food Defense Policies. A thorough understanding of all Company policies, including GMPs, safety policies, HACCP, and SQF, is expected.

Requirements

  • High School or Vo-Tech School graduate or equivalent.
  • Read, understand and follow documents such as safety rules, operating & maintenance instructions, and procedures.
  • Apply basic math skills: add, subtract, multiply, and divide.
  • Carry out instructions provided in written, oral, or visual/diagram form.
  • Self-motivated, conscientious, with a results-oriented mindset.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Ability to communicate their job-related functions with other employees, customers and auditors as needed.
  • Effectively communicate with supervisor.
  • The ability to read, write, and comprehend information provided.
  • Stand for most of the work shift.
  • Use hands and fingers to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop, crouch, bend, twist, and only occasionally sit.
  • Lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Heavier amounts can be moved with assistance of equipment.

Nice To Haves

  • One to three months related experience and/or training.
  • Knowledge of and/or previous experience in a manufacturing environment is a plus!

Responsibilities

  • Accurately inspects and packs product correctly to ensure customers get a consistent, quality product.
  • Perform a visual and dimensional sampling to determine overall acceptability of ware.
  • Label ware and track quantities.
  • Communicate problems to process technician or supervisor.
  • Be able to effectively operate equipment as required.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
  • Adhere to and communicate to others all plant Health, Safety and Quality guidelines and GMP.
  • Perform Basic Sanitation Functions
  • Notify SQF Practitioner/Quality Manager or any other Management personnel of ANY Food Safety or Quality issues.
  • Identify problems relating to Food Safety and the Quality of the raw material, processes, quality system, or safety system, by performing Production/Quality Checks as assigned.
  • Ability to initiate action to prevent the occurrence of nonconformities relating to Food Safety and the Quality of the product, processes, quality system, or safety system.
  • Be able to execute and follow the HOLD SOP.
  • Controls further processing or delivery of nonconforming product in terms of Food Safety and Quality issues until the deficiency or unsatisfactory condition has been corrected.
  • Employee follows all Food Fraud/food Defense Policies while on company property.
  • Adhere to safety policies.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area and report any unsafe conditions to supervisor.
  • Wear company issued personal protective equipment (PPE) such as uniforms, gloves, hairnets.
