About The Position

The Production Operations & Maintenance Engineer provides operational support for the IRS Enterprise API Gateway production environment. This role ensures high availability, rapid incident response, operational continuity, and reliable performance for mission-critical IRS API services.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years supporting enterprise production systems.
• Experience with ServiceNow.
• Experience supporting enterprise API Gateway environments.
• Experience monitoring Linux or Windows server environments.
• Experience with incident management.
• Experience performing root cause analysis.
• Experience with operational reporting.
• Strong troubleshooting skills.
• U.S. Citizenship required
• Must be able to obtain and maintain an IRS Moderate Background Investigation (MBI)/Public Trust.

Responsibilities

• Monitor production API Gateway environments.
• Respond to incidents and perform root cause analysis.
• Support 24x7 operational activities.
• Manage ServiceNow incidents and service requests.
• Support vulnerability remediation and security patch implementation.
• Perform backup and recovery validation.
• Support disaster recovery testing.
• Monitor application performance and availability.
• Create operational dashboards and reports.
• Develop operational documentation and runbooks.
• Support production deployments and change management activities.
• Coordinate with infrastructure, networking, and application teams during incident resolution.
