About The Position

This position will perform a combination of both administrative and production functions as needed to support farm operations. The Production Office Assistant will assist management with office operations and procedures as well as performance of day-to-day animal care activities in barn.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience
  • Knowledge of Office Equipment
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite software – Excel, Word, Outlook
  • Knowledge of general upkeep of euthanasia equipment
  • Knowledge of Animal Husbandry skills
  • Skill in verbal and written communication

  • Skill in attention to detail
  • Ability to learn and become proficient with relevant computer systems, including production record system and feed order systems

Responsibilities

  • Assist with various clerical duties in the office including preparing site reports, farm record management and storage, semen management, completion of maintenance work orders, ordering and stocking of office and farm supplies, assisting manager with feed orders, assisting with onboarding of new employees, timely and accurate entry of various farm reporting and data corrections for piglet projections, flow, employee training, etc., and answering telephone and email correspondence.
  • Perform day-to-day production activities based on sound science and best practices to ensure high-quality production of pigs including feed, water, air, and care.
  • Protect worker safety, abiding by safe work habits to ensure a safe environment, and maintain regulatory compliance.
  • Perform timely duties and comply with practices to protect the health of the animals, commonly referred to as bio-security practices.
  • Perform housekeeping responsibilities of barn facilities, including laundry, trash removal and maintaining cleanliness of office spaces, lunchrooms and employee changing areas.
  • Complete all required trainings.
  • Communicate any safety or animal welfare issues to management immediately.
