About The Position

The Production / Manufacturing Technician V serves as the Lead Technician on the production floor, responsible for overseeing day-to-day manufacturing operations and leading complex hardware builds. This role combines hands-on technical expertise with team leadership, ensuring production activities meet quality, schedule, and compliance requirements. The Lead Technician partners closely with engineering, program management, and quality teams to drive efficient execution across multiple programs.

Requirements

  • 8–10+ years of experience in high-precision manufacturing, prototyping, or system integration
  • Strong expertise in mechanical, electrical, and/or optical assembly techniques
  • Proven experience leading teams and coordinating complex production efforts
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation
  • Experience working with ERP systems and quality assurance processes
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to balance hands-on technical work with leadership responsibilities
  • Effective communication skills across technical and non-technical teams
  • High school diploma or GED required

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in aerospace, defense, optics, or electronics manufacturing environments
  • Subject matter expertise in a specialized area (e.g., opto-mechanical assembly, RF integration, precision machining)
  • Technical training, certification, or trade education preferred

Responsibilities

  • Lead daily production activities, assign work, and track progress to ensure on-time delivery and performance standards
  • Own and execute complex and first-article builds, serving as the technical lead for mission-critical hardware
  • Mentor and train technicians (Levels I–IV), providing hands-on guidance and technical oversight
  • Act as the primary liaison between production, engineering, program management, and quality teams
  • Troubleshoot technical and process issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions
  • Develop, refine, and standardize assembly processes, workflows, and documentation
  • Ensure all builds meet AS9100, ISO 9001, and ITAR compliance requirements, including proper documentation and traceability
  • Support production planning by providing input on materials, equipment, and scheduling needs
  • Participate in customer support activities, including demos, installations, and field troubleshooting when needed
