About The Position

Eurofins Genomics Blue Heron has been a pioneer in the gene synthesis industry since 1999, delivering millions of base pairs of accurate genes using its proprietary GeneMaker® multi-technology platform. Acquired by Eurofins Scientific in mid-2019, Blue Heron is now part of the Eurofins Genomics US division. The company is seeking a Production Manager to oversee the day-to-day execution of gene synthesis and plasmid operations at the Blue Heron facility.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Bioengineering, or related scientific field.
  • 6+ years of manufacturing or operations experience in biotechnology, molecular biology, or related life science industries.
  • Minimum 3 years of leadership or supervisory experience managing technical production teams.
  • Strong hands-on experience with molecular biology workflows and manufacturing operations.
  • Experience working with LIMS systems and production data tracking tools.
  • Excellent problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, growth-oriented manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

  • Oversees, directs, coordinates and prioritizes the daily activities related Blue Heron GeneMaker® platform including Gene synthesis, plasmid DNA and IVTmRNA production.
  • Plan and organize the production schedule while ensuring compliance with safety regulations
  • Recruit, mentor, train, and develop a high-performing manufacturing team.
  • Drive operational efficiency through continuous improvement initiatives and process optimization.
  • Serve as the primary technical and operational troubleshooting leader for the production organization.
  • Identify manufacturing bottlenecks, implement corrective actions, and improve workflow scalability.
  • Manage production materials, inventory, purchasing, and vendor relationships while controlling costs and ensuring supply continuity.
  • Support implementation and optimization of manufacturing equipment, automation systems, and production technologies.
  • Develop and maintain process controls, equipment validation programs, KPIs, and manufacturing metrics.
  • Ensure compliance with ISO 13485:2016 standards, internal quality systems, and applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Partner cross-functionally with R&D, Quality, Engineering, and Operations teams to support new product introduction and manufacturing scale-up initiatives.
  • Foster a strong culture of safety, accountability, collaboration, and operational excellence.
