Requirements

  • Minimum 4 years of food production/packaging experience (ideally frozen bakery).
  • Minimum 2 years management/leadership experience required.
  • BRC or similar knowledge of quality programs.
  • Solid HACCP and GMP Knowledge

Nice To Haves

  • Demonstrated experience in Lean Manufacturing or Continuous Improvement programs (preferred certification in Lean Six Sigma, or equivalent)
  • Dessert Manufacturing Facility or Bakery experience.
  • Strong problem-solving and ability to apply Lean tools to reduce waste and improve flow.
  • Works effectively cross-functionally to drive change.
  • Basic math skills including interpretation of graphs and charts.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the engagement, training, and development of Bakery team members while embedding Lean behaviors and tools into daily operations.
  • Champion waste reduction, equipment uptime, and bakery efficiency by applying Lean methodologies such as 5S, visual management, root cause analysis, and standard work.
  • Drive a culture of employee ownership and continuous improvement (Kaizen) through problem-solving activities and daily huddles.
  • Maintain full accountability for personnel safety and food safety in the bakery; lead by example and ensure GMP, HACCP, and BRC standards are consistently met.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to identify improvement projects that reduce cost, increase efficiency, and improve consistency.
  • Develop and maintain standardized work instructions, training matrices, and execution plans that enable consistent performance and knowledge transfer.
  • Communicate clearly and directly with employees concerning performance expectations, productivity, and accountability.
  • Conduct monthly 1:1’s and annual reviews.
  • Optimize labor and work schedules to meet cost targets while maintaining flexibility for continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Lead and participate in structured problem-solving (A3, PDCA, root cause analysis) to resolve issues promptly and sustainably.
  • Continuously improve area operations, processes, equipment efficiency, and service while applying Lean principles to ensure repeatability and scalability.
  • Support the development of visual performance metrics (KPIs, dashboards, tier meetings) and ensure accountability to results.
  • Partner with PD and QA to ensure quality standards are met for new and existing products; provide operational input into cost models and process capabilities.
  • Identify employee development opportunities and plan targeted training or coaching aligned with Lean capability building.
  • Model Chudleigh’s Traits and foster an environment where employees feel empowered to contribute ideas and take ownership of performance improvements.
  • Build contingency plans for personnel coverage and process reliability, ensuring business continuity.
  • Lead by example, coach for success, and recognize team members for contributions to safety, quality, efficiency, and improvement.
