About The Position

UFP Site Built is a leader in designing and manufacturing value-added wood and non-wood products for the construction industry, offering a wide variety of wood structural components, aluminum decks and rails, and cold formed steel structural components. The Production Manager is responsible for the management and coordination of a plant's manufacturing operations or multiple department operations consistent with cost, profit, and productivity objectives. This role involves developing production schedules, coordinating activities with other areas, and forecasting inventory requirements.

Requirements

  • Minimum of two years of experience as a production supervisor or equivalent.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office including Excel, Word, and Outlook.

Nice To Haves

  • Preferred bachelor's degree in a relating discipline or equivalent.
  • Preferred experience and knowledge on UFP’s organization, culture, and product lines.

Responsibilities

  • Formulate long and short-range business plans and goals.
  • Ensure all plant assets in the area of responsibility are properly managed and safeguarded.
  • Staff assigned operations to meet production levels consistent with cost objectives.
  • Ensure employees are properly trained.
  • Supervise activities directly or through supervisors and lead operators.
  • Coach and develop subordinates, evaluate performance, and initiate corrective action as required.
  • Establish work center operation efficiency standards.
  • Monitor performance to established efficiency and quality standards and initiate corrective action as required.
  • Ensure performance reviews are conducted in accordance with policy in the area of responsibility.
  • Ensure yard conditions and housekeeping conform to Company standards in the area of responsibility.
  • Monitor expenses for the area of responsibility and initiate corrective action as required.
  • Analyze production operations and workflow and develop improvement recommendations.
  • Monitor output, cuts, yields, and scrap to ensure efficient resource utilization and initiate corrective action as required within the area of responsibility.
  • Manage inventory in the area of responsibility, ensure inventory is rotated in accordance with operational policy, and participate in month-end inventory.
  • Ensure machinery in the area of operation is properly maintained.
  • Order supplies, initiate purchase orders, and approve timecards and incentives.
  • Manage finished goods packaging as required.
  • Prepare various reports and logs as required.
  • Participate in the Safety Committee process and ensure assigned operations are performed consistent with Company and OSHA policies, practices, and procedures.
  • Ensure operations are performed with Federal, State, and local laws and regulations, and Company policy and procedure.
