About The Position
The Production Management Trainee develops comprehensive knowledge of plant operations and manufacturing processes. The trainee works under the close direction of an assigned mentor, exercises little discretion and judgment over work priorities on a regular basis, and is expected to demonstrate a small degree of creativity.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in business or a related discipline, or equivalent work experience.
- Proficiency in the use of MS Excel spreadsheets.
Responsibilities
- Develop knowledge of Company products and procedures through on-the-job training.
- Develop knowledge of panel and lumber grades, lumber math, efficient material utilization, cuts, and yields.
- Learn to operate the Company’s business system to perform required administrative functions.
- Develop knowledge of product costing, production scheduling, budgeting, and expense control.
- Supervise activities consistent with Company policies, procedures, and applicable laws and regulations.
- Develop working knowledge of continuous improvement, efficiency standards, safety, and Human Resources policies and practices.
- Tour other UFP facilities and customer locations to develop a detailed understanding of operations.
- Complete courses and assignments as directed.
- Prepare reports as required.
- Perform other duties as required.
