About The Position

The Production Management Trainee develops a comprehensive knowledge of plant operations and manufacturing processes. The trainee works under the close direction of an assigned mentor, exercises little discretion and judgment over work priorities on a regular basis, and is expected to use a small degree of creativity.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in business or a related discipline, or equivalent work experience.
• Proficiency in using MS Excel spreadsheets.

Responsibilities

• Develop comprehensive knowledge of Company products and procedures through on-the-job training.
• Develop knowledge of panel and lumber grades.
• Learn lumber math and efficient material utilization, and develop a full understanding of cuts and yields.
• Learn to operate the Company’s business system to perform required administrative functions.
• Develop detailed knowledge of product costing.
• Develop an understanding of the production scheduling process.
• Develop working knowledge of the budget and expense control process.
• Supervise activities consistently with Company policies, procedures, and applicable laws and regulations.
• Develop working knowledge of continuous improvement, efficiency standards, and safety.
• Develop working knowledge and understanding of Human Resources policies and practices.
• Develop a detailed understanding of operations by touring other UFP facilities and customer locations.
• Complete courses and assignments as directed.
• Prepare reports as required.
• Perform other duties as required.
