About The Position

The Production Management Trainee develops comprehensive knowledge of plant operations and manufacturing processes. The trainee works under the close direction of an assigned mentor, exercises little discretion and judgment over work priorities, and is expected to demonstrate a small degree of creativity. The role includes on-the-job training, courses, assignments, facility and customer-location tours, and preparation of reports.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in business or a related discipline, or equivalent work experience.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel spreadsheets.

Responsibilities

• Develop knowledge of company products and procedures through on-the-job training.
• Learn panel and lumber grades, lumber math, material utilization, cuts, and yields.
• Learn to use the company business system for administrative functions.
• Develop knowledge of product costing, production scheduling, and budget and expense control.
• Supervise activities in accordance with company policies and procedures and applicable laws and regulations.
• Develop knowledge of continuous improvement, efficiency standards, safety, and Human Resources policies and practices.
• Tour other UFP facilities and customer locations to develop an understanding of operations.
• Complete assigned courses and assignments.
• Prepare required reports.
• Perform other duties as required.
