About The Position
The Production Management Trainee develops a comprehensive knowledge of plant operations and manufacturing processes. The trainee works under the close direction of an assigned mentor, exercises little discretion and judgment over work priorities, and is expected to demonstrate a small degree of creativity. The role includes on-the-job training, courses, assignments, and tours of other facilities and customer locations.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in business or a related discipline, or equivalent work experience.
- Proficiency in the use of MS Excel spreadsheets.
Responsibilities
- Develop knowledge of Company products and procedures through on-the-job training.
- Learn panel and lumber grades, lumber math, efficient material utilization, and cuts and yields.
- Learn to operate the Company’s business system for administrative functions.
- Develop knowledge of product costing, production scheduling, and budget and expense control.
- Supervise activities consistent with Company policies, procedures, and applicable laws and regulations.
- Develop working knowledge of Continuous Improvement, efficiency standards, and safety.
- Develop working knowledge and understanding of Human Resources policies and practices.
- Tour other UFP facilities and customer locations to build a detailed understanding of operations.
- Complete courses and assignments as directed.
- Prepare reports as required.
- Perform other duties as required.
