About The Position

The Production Lead is responsible for overseeing daily production operations, ensuring efficient staging and pack-out of products, and leading the team on the floor to meet daily targets. This role drives shift performance across key performance indicators (KPIs) including Safety, Quality, Processing Efficiency, and Service Level. The Production Lead monitors food safety, manages scheduling and resource allocation, and communicates daily expectations and updates. They are also responsible for documenting production data, ensuring compliance with food safety regulations and GMPs, and supporting various operational tasks such as setup, changeovers, and stock control. Additionally, this role involves troubleshooting equipment issues, training team members, completing administrative tasks, and maintaining a clean and organized work area. A strong emphasis is placed on promoting a culture of respect, accountability, consistency, and teamwork.

Requirements

  • Minimum 1–2 years of leadership or supervisory experience in a food production environment
  • Experience in a fast-paced food manufacturing environment with changing priorities preferred
  • Proven ability to achieve results through team members
  • Strong ability to work flexible schedules, including varied shifts and weekends
  • Self-starter with ability to start up equipment efficiently and on time
  • Strong multitasking, prioritization, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment under pressure
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • High attention to detail and commitment to quality and safety
  • Ability to read, follow instructions, and apply basic math in English
  • Intermediate computer skills (Word, Excel, Outlook, data entry)

Responsibilities

  • Verify daily production plan and coordinate priorities with manager and other Team Leads
  • Ensure efficient staging and pack-out of products to meet daily targets
  • Lead from the floor (90%+ presence), supporting execution and team performance
  • Drive shift performance across Safety, Quality, Processing Efficiency, and Service Level KPIs
  • Monitor food safety by verifying and updating temperature logs
  • Ensure proper scheduling and resource allocation to meet production goals
  • Communicate daily expectations, plan of the day, safety updates, prior day results, and scheduling needs
  • Manage downtime by communicating interruptions and documenting issues and corrective actions
  • Observe work areas to ensure all pre- and post-run activities are completed efficiently
  • Report defective product, units, or questionable conditions to management
  • Document production data including test runs, batches, samples, temperatures, and date codes
  • Ensure compliance with food safety, GMPs, and safe food handling practices
  • Provide regular updates on work in progress and task status to management
  • Support setup, changeovers, stock control, allergen control, and quality product delivery
  • Troubleshoot equipment and machinery issues as needed
  • Notify maintenance of mechanical concerns, alarms, or equipment issues
  • Train team members on proper procedures, including emergency shut-off use
  • Complete routine administrative tasks including KPI tracking, forms, reports, and data entry
  • Enter data into inventory control systems and support production reporting
  • Support green waste program by ensuring proper sorting and accountability of waste
  • Maintain clean and organized work areas, including removal of pallets, wood, and plastic
  • Follow all safety procedures including SOPs, LOTO, PPE, and proper lifting practices
  • Ensure compliance with food safety prerequisite programs and escalate issues immediately
  • Promote a culture of respect, accountability, consistency, and teamwork
