About The Position

This role serves as a Team Leader responsible for coordinating and leading the performance of production personnel and processes. The Production Lead promotes and maintains a safe work environment, oversees housekeeping and 5S activities, and ensures product quality through auditing and verification of operator conformance to standards. The position also involves facilitating continuous improvement, supporting personnel development, managing employee training, adjusting manpower to meet schedules, ensuring material availability, and assisting in the implementation of new procedures. The Lead will also maintain production records and perform production worker duties as needed.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
Minimum 2 years of operations and/or lean experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Familiarity with the manufacturing industry and the related business processes.
Intermediate to advanced PC skills.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
Ability to speak effectively to groups of employees or others outside the department.
Must be able to read and understand English.
Ability to operate proficiently a PC computer, working knowledge of Microsoft Office Outlook, Word, and Excel.
Ability to draft emails, work in spreadsheets, and create graphs.
Ability to navigate network directories and learn to perform duties in enterprise ERP software system.
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
Ability to interpret company and departmental financial data.
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
Ability to read and interpret instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
Ability to solve problems involving several variables in various situations.
Regularly required to talk or hear.
Frequently required to stand; walk; use hands/fingers to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, or crouch.
Occasionally required to sit.
Regularly lift and/or move up to 35 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

Promotes and maintains a safe work environment at all times.
Responsible for housekeeping and 5s activity in the area.
Responsible for product quality through auditing and verification of operator conformance to standards, quality systems, and manufacturing processes.
Audits products and scrap to verify conformance to specifications and directs setup and adjustments of machines or methods.
Facilitates continuous improvement with a focus on employee involvement.
Supports Supervisor in developing personnel through training, performance reviews, and other administrative duties.
Responsible for employee training, cross-training, and maintenance of training records.
Adjusts manpower assignments to meet production schedules.
Assures necessary materials and supplies are available and used appropriately for production.
Assists in the implementation of new procedures or processes to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product.
Maintains production records.
Performs the duties of production workers supervised when needed.
