Our hourly lead production role performs a wide variety of duties in the production, assembly and cleaning of production machine parts and manufacturing suites. Supports the goals of the Production Department, including coordinating between the areas of production to reduce downtime between production runs. Duties may include material inventory, machine operation, assembly/disassembly process and recognition of quality control processes in place.

Requirements

  • Minimum High school diploma or GED is required.
  • Prior lead and manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Ability to work overtime as required.
  • Must be able to safely work with ingredients and products that are derived from possibly allergenic sources including, but not limited to, nuts, soy, dairy, fish, and shellfish.
  • Possess knowledge of the computers and software required to accomplish the Responsibilities of the job.
  • Use a hand calculator to perform basic math calculations to complete records accurately.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the completions and accuracy of all controlled production documents, including MDR, MMR, MOM log etc. before submitting them to the next section or department.
  • Capable of training production operators in their job duties and assumes the responsibility of trainer for their section.
  • Responsible for managing the shift activities of one or more areas of the production departments, including personnel, materials, schedules, quality, and production goals.
  • Assists in the timely completion of performance appraisals for department personnel.
  • Leads and supervises in the quick set up of all phases of assigned area for smooth operation and maximum output.
  • Has sufficient knowledge of the area and equipment being operated to create/review procedures, make machine adjustments, without supervision, in accordance with cGMP and Thorne guidelines.
  • Maintains a standard output for each product being processed and continuously improves speed and performance.
  • Immediately notifies Operations Leadership of any machine problems or anomalies outside of normal operations that effect output and the well-being of the equipment or the quality of the product.
  • Completes problem discoveries and assists with investigations.
  • At shift change, efficiently coordinates with the previous and next shifts by continuing to operate equipment while achieving consistent results and without a loss of productivity.
  • Is aware of cross-contamination issues while working with multiple raw materials and exhibits vigilance in taking proper precautions (changes gloves, only one raw material open at a time, proper cleaning of equipment in between use of raw materials).
  • Demonstrates the ability to audit all areas of operation for safety concerns and ensures PPE is available and used by all workers.
  • Takes initiative to ensure production areas and the warehouse meet Thorne Research’s standard of sanitation and cleanliness.
  • Operates cleaning machinery (floor machine) and pallet jacks as required by area assigned by supervisor.
  • Seeks formal and informal performance assessments of self, including performance versus expectations and goals, behaviors, and leadership potential.
