About The Position

The Bernard Group is a 100% employee-owned visual merchandising company seeking a Production Lead for their Machine Room team. This role involves mentoring and coaching employees in specific areas like bindery, fabricating, cutting, or kitting. The Production Lead will train new and existing employees on machine setup and process flow, acting as a subject matter expert. This is a working lead role, meaning the lead will also complete applicable work on job tickets and adhere to job requirements. The position is responsible for the final quality check before shipment to customers and serves as a liaison with CSRs and managers to ensure successful job completion within customer parameters. Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time and perform long hours of work operating equipment.
  • Ability to lift print media and substrate weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to possess color vision in order to check color quality of printed materials & read a ruler to a 1/16th of inch.
  • Ability to apply manual dexterity and visual acuity for cutting equipment and computer keyboarding use and to review detailed reports, instructions, print materials, and information.
  • Ability to effectively communicate, both verbally and in writing.
  • Strong interpersonal skills including, demonstrated listening skills and the ability to present ideas and thoughts concisely and effectively both internally and outside the organization.

Nice To Haves

  • Preferred 3 years experience in CNC routing.
  • OSHA 10 Hour certification a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Mentoring and coaching employees in specific areas of responsibility (bindery, fabricating, cutting, or kitting).
  • Training new and existing employees on efficient and effective machine set-up and process flow.
  • Evaluating the work of team members.
  • Providing feedback to the manager regarding team members' skill acquisition.
  • Completing applicable work on the job ticket and adhering to specific job requirements.
  • Performing the last quality check before shipment to customers.
  • Acting as a key liaison with the CSR and managers to ensure job completion within customer parameters.
  • Working closely with the supervisor in prioritizing and directing department work flow.
  • Supporting a safe environment, driving towards 0 OSHA recordables & maintaining high quality standards.
  • Ensuring assembly integrity through continuous monitoring of departmental processes.
  • Effectively communicating with the fabrication team to ensure production schedule aligns with customer needs.
  • Maintaining appropriate levels of supplies to meet production requirements.
  • Monitoring issues and receipts for work orders.
  • Establishing open lines of communication with the production floor.
  • Representing corporate policy and communicating to employees as required.
  • Ensuring training and skills matrix are in compliance with training policy & working to further develop team’s skill.
  • Working toward continuous improvement by monitoring efficiency & productivity & implementing improvements.
  • Driving improvements in material flow, including cell design and material delivery.
  • Interacting with other support departments as required, driving out costs where possible.
  • Completing and quality checking each job according to ticket specifications, producing quality work.
  • Learning existing equipment and training and learning on new equipment.
  • Troubleshooting production problems to ensure productivity and quality standards are met.
  • Putting away stock on shelves, breaking down boxes and cleaning up after shift.
  • Troubleshooting and remedying programming issues as needed to ensure minimal downtime on the machines.
  • Conforming to shifting priorities, demands, and timelines through analytics and problem solving.
  • Performing miscellaneous projects and completing various tasks as requested by management.
