About The Position

Smartpress is a fast-growing online printing service that is 100% employee-owned and is disrupting the traditional printing industry. They are looking for an experienced Programming & Prototyping Supervisor to plan, organize, and oversee all programming and prototyping activities within the Fabrication department. The primary function of this role is to ensure efficient production, meet deadlines, and uphold quality standards. This role contributes to the overall efficiency and success of production operations by managing programming and prototyping processes. The supervisor will identify the need for additional resources and ensure proper staffing. They will oversee Programming and Prototyping efforts, becoming the subject matter expert for training. This position collaborates with the Production Manager on progress reviews, staff development, employee engagement, and disciplinary actions. The available shift is Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM.

Requirements

  • 2 years Technical or Trade School diploma or certification, or equivalent work experience is required.
  • 2 years minimum related experience in the programming field strongly preferred.
  • An understanding of plastics and plastics fabrication is required.
  • Ability to conform to shifting priorities, demands, and timelines through analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Ability to plan, prioritize, coordinate, and manage work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to display high levels of customer service, responding promptly and thoroughly to the inquiries and needs of individuals both internal and external to the organization.
  • Professional knowledge, proficiency, and initiative in achieving goals and meeting company standards.
  • Ability to identify, evaluate, problem-solve, and give direction regarding problem resolution for individual and team issues.

Responsibilities

  • Motivate, mentor, coach, and train employees for professional development, employee engagement, and the creation of a safe and inclusive work environment.
  • Set high performance expectations and provide feedback both positive and constructive to ensure those expectations are met.
  • Effectively communicate internally and externally to ensure production schedule aligns with customer needs.
  • Implement and enforce quality control and tracking programs to meet quality objectives.
  • Analyze prototypes and quality control to detect and correct problems.
  • Collaborate with experts in the machine room and fabrication assembly to ensure repeatability throughout the production process when needed.
  • Communicate with the scheduling team to ensure deadlines are met and clients are served.
  • Challenge the status quo and utilize the latest technology available to help move the company forward.
  • Develop, monitor, and challenge standard operating procedures throughout the area.
  • Collaborate with the engineering team to create manufacturable designs that are production friendly.
  • Handle the implementation and execution of training programs for new hires.
  • Participate in performance management along with the manager to provide coaching and feedback as needed.
  • Monitor and review the performance of staff, perform 1 on 1 training, and set goals for improvement.
  • Ensure compliance with workplace safety programs.
  • Perform duties in other areas of the acrylics shop as needed.
  • Perform miscellaneous projects and complete various tasks as requested by management.
