About The Position

This position is responsible for ensuring accurate oversight of Fabrication and well as ensuring timely workflow, based on the Work Center Priority Report and other production information tools. Reprioritizes workload to accommodate hot and rush job requirements to support production on-time delivery metrics and throughput.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Five years Lead or Supervisor experience in a fabrication or similar environment
  • Three years of experience applying continuous improvement principles
  • Strong verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively with individuals in various departments and levels
  • Basic comfort level with PC based and data collection technology
  • Strong customer orientation toward both internal and external customers
  • Proven problem identification and problem-solving skills, using other depts, including Engineering as necessary to address problems
  • Ability to work alone or in a team on board variety of projects
  • Ability to multitask in a rapidly changing environment
  • Ability to use hand tools, power tools and read a tape measure
  • Demonstrated ability to read and interpret blueprints

  • LEAN Manufacturing / Six Sigma quality training highly preferred

Responsibilities

  • Runs and manages grids & daily reports including timecard audits, efficiency reports, and others as needed to ensure proper job time and standard managements
  • Reviews and manages workload assignments to the Work Center Priority lists
  • Trains and educates employees on various tasks w/in the dept. by providing necessary tools and ensuring full understanding of welding operations
  • Oversees time tracking assigned employees. Establishes and counsels direct reports to meet standards
  • Manages and develops the welding team. Provides training & development opportunities, administers the departmental development program and delivers performance management, as needed
  • Works w/other dept. lead and foreman to resolve issues that arise during the manufacturing process.
  • Document NCRs or ECRs to help drive continuous improvement.
  • Creates and maintains work instructions for all processes in Fabrication
  • Support continuous improvement and LEAN efforts
  • Coordinate with maintenance to keep equipment in safe and working condition
  • Addresses defective tools and equipment
  • Demonstrates the Caldwell Company Values in all work activities and instills the same behaviors in all direct reports
  • Ensures a clean and safe work environment. Trash and debris are removed throughout the day and clear aisles are maintained.
  • Enforces all safety rules and regulations
