About The Position

The Production Floater operates a variety of machines to help meet production demands. Equipment and processes may include diamond-blade and wire saws, mausoleum assembly, finishing lines, sanding, epoxy application and patching, anchoring, polish and core machines, and milling machines. The role inspects stone, interprets production tickets, performs and checks production work to customer specifications, and handles materials and machine setup, operation, maintenance, and programming. The position is full-time and hourly, working Monday through Friday from 3:00 p.m. to 11:30 p.m., with overtime as needed. Second-shift work earns a $2.00 differential in addition to hourly pay.

Requirements

General computer skills.
General knowledge of software used to program CNC, milling, and/or turning machines, such as 3D modeling, CAD, or CAM software.
Good hand-eye coordination.
Ability to calculate material needs and use raw materials efficiently to meet job requirements.
Understanding of general and job-specific stone colors, characteristics, quality, and appearance criteria.
Good color perception; must not be color blind or color deficient.
Ability to perform varied duties and change tasks to avoid production interruptions.
Ability to work independently with little or no supervision.
Excellent problem-solving and critical-thinking skills, including time management, improving efficiencies, and independently determining work priority and urgency.
Mechanical aptitude.
General math skills.
Ability to read work orders or production tickets, which may include dimensional drawings.
Ability to read a tape measure in imperial and metric units.
Ability to work as a self-motivated team member, follow safety protocols, and cross-train as needed.

Responsibilities

Inspect stone for quality and appearance, including dimensions, thickness, flatness, and squareness.
Read production tickets to determine required work.
Review work before, during, and after production steps to ensure it meets ticket specifications, using patterns and measuring tools as needed.
Apply knowledge of stone tolerances to repair, mill, make angled and shaped cuts, use specific tooling, and complete other detailed work to customer specifications.
Use cranes to load and unload work from machines as needed.
Load pre-programmed profiles, patterns, or files from the network.
Level, brace, secure, wedge, and clamp stone in machines according to machine-specific safety requirements; use large hammers or pry bars when needed.
Scan production-ticket bar codes to record completed work in the JDE system.
Index saw blades to the correct size and dimensions for the stone being cut.
Apply patterns and lay out stone to use raw material efficiently.
Operate, maintain, and program wire saws.
Set project components, including floors, walls, roofs, jambs, dividers, doors, granite fronts, bronze doors and windows, steps, benches, and anchors, using appropriate finishing techniques.
Use epoxy and bonding techniques to adhere different stones and materials, including granite, brass, inlays, patches, deterrents, and inlaid letters made from stainless steel or acrylic.
Install and program specialty and new patterns into automated machines.
Set up, operate, and maintain Omag stone mills.
