About The Position

The Production Controller is responsible for direct coordination of material, parts, and production flow in support of aircraft structural modification programs, specifically heavy modification of aircraft components such as pylons and major assemblies. This role is focused on material readiness, parts accountability, and milestone execution within a hangar/manufacturing environment—not flight operations. The position requires hands-on coordination with production teams to ensure work packages are fully supported, material shortages are proactively mitigated, and schedule commitments are met. This position serves as a daily integrator between Production, Supply Chain, Quality, Engineering, Backshops, and Program Management to drive on-time, first-time quality execution.

Requirements

  • Direct experience in aviation production control within a modification, depot, or heavy maintenance environment (REQUIRED)
  • Strong understanding of material flow, kitting, and shortage management in a hangar or manufacturing setting
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, technical data packages (TDPs), routers, and bills of material (BOMs)
  • Working knowledge of aircraft structural work (sheet metal, assemblies, modifications)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel for tracking, reporting, and data management
  • Experience with ERP/MRP systems such as Costpoint and maintenance tracking systems such as OOMA or similar
  • Strong ability to prioritize work in a high-tempo environment with shifting requirements
  • Ability to identify production bottlenecks and implement corrective actions
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to interface daily with supervisors, planners, QA, and leadership
  • High level of attention to detail and accountability for data accuracy and material control
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • 5+ years of experience in aviation production control, maintenance control, or material control within a modification or depot environment
  • Hands-on experience supporting aircraft modification programs (not strictly flightline operations)
  • Experience with government contracts and property accountability (GFE/GFP)
  • Demonstrated experience managing material shortages, kitting, and schedule-driven production environments
  • Ability to obtain and maintain access to government facilities and/or security clearance

Nice To Haves

  • Experience supporting aircraft structural modification programs (pylons, airframe structures, major assemblies)
  • Prior experience in DoD aviation maintenance or modification contracts
  • Familiarity with AS9100 quality environments and audit expectations
  • Experience working within integrated product teams (Production, QA, Engineering, Supply Chain)

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate daily production control activities in support of aircraft modification and manufacturing operations.
  • Monitor and track parts requirements, shortages, purchase requests, and delivery status to support scheduled production milestones.
  • Maintain accountability and visibility of parts, kits, consumables, and government-furnished property (GFP/GFE) assigned to programs.
  • Interface with Supply Chain, Buyers, Warehouse, Backshops, and Production Leads to expedite critical material needs.
  • Update internal databases and tracking systems with production status, milestone completions, labor progress, and material readiness.
  • Coordinate movement of parts and assemblies between hangars, work centers, and backshops to support workflow.
  • Assist with inventory validation, excess material disposition, and reconciliation of project closeout materials.
  • Generate recurring reports on production status, shortages, milestone completion, and readiness metrics.
  • Ensure compliance with company procedures, contractual requirements, and quality standards such as AS9100.
  • Support continuous improvement efforts related to schedule adherence, first-time yield, and material flow.

Benefits

  • Overtime may be required.
