About The Position

GTI is a contract manufacturing partner supporting customers in renewable energy, power generation, infrastructure, and industrial systems. We fabricate custom designed, purpose-built enclosures and skids for our customers and perform mechanical and electrical integration in-house, delivering a true turn-key product to our customers. Our scope spans Engineering, prototype builds, through full production, requiring teams that can move fast, adapt, and execute with precision.

Position Overview
The Production Control Technician supports the daily execution of manufacturing schedules by ensuring work orders, materials, system data, and production priorities are aligned before and during the build process. Working closely with the Value Stream Planner and cross-functional manufacturing teams, this role monitors work through StartProto, maintains clear visibility to production status, and identifies risks that could affect throughput or customer delivery.
This is a hands-on, floor-connected position requiring disciplined follow-up, accurate transactions, and timely escalation of shortages, bottlenecks, and data issues. The Production Control Technician helps convert the production plan into executable shop-floor activity while supporting inventory accuracy, material flow, and continuous improvement.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent; associate degree or technical training in manufacturing, supply chain, operations, or a related discipline is a plus.
• 2+ years of experience in production control, manufacturing operations, materials, inventory control, planning support, or a related role within a manufacturing environment.
• Working knowledge of work orders, BOMs, routings, production schedules, material transactions, WIP, cycle counting, and inventory control practices.
• Experience using an ERP/MRP, MES, or production tracking system to review work orders, material status, and manufacturing transactions.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including sorting, filtering, lookups, pivot tables, and analysis of production or inventory data.
• Ability to interpret production priorities, identify constraints, maintain accurate records, and communicate urgent issues clearly across office and shop-floor teams.
• Strong attention to detail, follow-through, and accountability in a fast-paced manufacturing environment with changing priorities.
• Ability to work on-site and regularly engage with production, warehouse, and line-side operations while following all safety requirements.

Nice To Haves

• Experience supporting high-mix, high-volume, engineered-to-order, or contract manufacturing operations.
• Hands-on experience with StartProto or a comparable ERP/MRP, MES, shop-floor control, or production scheduling platform.
• Experience with Clear-to-Build reporting, shortage management, production planning, capacity planning, schedule attainment, or material readiness reviews.
• Advanced Excel capability and exposure to SQL, Power BI, Tableau, or similar tools used for KPI reporting and data analysis.
• Experience participating in RCCA, Lean Manufacturing, 5S, standard work, or other continuous improvement initiatives.
• Familiarity with structural fabrication, machining, welding, electrical integration, mechanical assembly, or complex systems integration.

Responsibilities

• Monitor daily production schedules and ensure jobs are released, launched, and progressed through StartProto in accordance with planned start dates, production priorities, and customer delivery requirements.
• Coordinate with the Value Stream Planner to sequence and prioritize work based on customer demand, material readiness, labor and equipment constraints, and current production conditions.
• Track work order status from release through completion; communicate delays, risks, and schedule deviations before they affect downstream operations or delivery commitments.
• Update and maintain the production Heat Map each day, providing accurate visibility to job status, constraints, priorities, and recovery actions.
• Communicate material availability, production constraints, and schedule changes to the Value Stream Planner and affected Operations and Production teams.
• Verify material availability before work order release and promptly communicate shortages, substitutions, allocation concerns, or incomplete kits that could prevent execution.
• Support Clear-to-Build (CTB) reporting and production readiness reviews by validating material, documentation, and system status against scheduled build requirements.
• Review work order information and inform the planner of errors or gaps involving bills of material (BOMs), routings, quantities, dates, operations, and other production data maintained in StartProto or the ERP/MRP system.
• Ensure inventory movements, material issues, work order completions, and other production transactions are recorded accurately and on time to preserve reliable system data.
• Maintain compliance with established production control procedures, inventory control standards, documentation requirements, and data accuracy expectations.
• Monitor inventory levels and investigate discrepancies that may affect production readiness, schedule execution, or material availability.
• Conduct line-side work-in-process (WIP) audits and cycle counts in partnership with Materials Management; document variances and support timely system and physical corrections.
• Coordinate material movement with Materials, Warehouse, and Production teams to ensure components, kits, and subassemblies are available at the point of use when required.
• Monitor critical shortages and support Planning and Supply Chain in expediting, reallocating, or otherwise resolving constraints in alignment with approved priorities.
• Identify aging, misplaced, excess, or untransacted WIP that may create inventory inaccuracies, floor congestion, or schedule risk, and drive issues to the appropriate owner.
• Identify production bottlenecks involving materials, labor, equipment, quality holds, engineering information, or system data, and escalate issues affecting throughput or customer commitments.
• Partner with Operations, Manufacturing Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain, Materials, Planning, Maintenance, and Production to clarify ownership, establish recovery actions, and maintain execution discipline.
• Participate in Root Cause and Corrective Action (RCCA) activities involving inventory discrepancies, material flow failures, transaction errors, missed releases, and recurring production interruptions.
• Support Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement efforts that improve schedule adherence, WIP visibility, inventory accuracy, point-of-use availability, and production flow.
• Maintain and communicate performance information related to work order release, CTB readiness, shortages, schedule attainment, inventory accuracy, and other assigned production control KPIs.
