About The Position

The Production Assistant supports the extrusion operator in operating extrusion equipment efficiently and producing quality products in a large, 24/7 manufacturing environment. The role includes checking product quality, packaging finished materials, moving materials, assisting with machine cleaning, completing production and quality documentation, and maintaining a safe and orderly production area. The position requires following plant safety procedures and company policies, communicating production issues, and carrying out additional duties assigned by leadership.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Minimum of 1 year of experience.
• Basic computer skills.
• Ability to read, write, and understand English.
• Basic mathematical proficiency, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division of whole numbers and fractions.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and read gauges and similar measuring devices.
• Must know how to read a ruler.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to accident-free operations and comply with health, safety, environmental, and quality requirements and regulations.
• Assist the department in producing products that meet specifications.
• Monitor and complete quality checks, including color, surface, and size, before packaging.
• Place pallets and package finished materials as directed.
• Move materials to designated areas as needed.
• Assist the extrusion operator with machine-cleaning functions, including cleaning saws and tanks.
• Communicate daily issues and relevant information to production assistants, assistant operators, operators, and team leaders.
• Follow plant safety procedures and company policies, practices, and procedures.
• Complete production operator reports and additional quality and production paperwork as necessary.
• Complete and attach labels according to product specifications.
• Perform housekeeping duties in the production area.
• Perform additional duties as needed or assigned by leadership.
