About The Position

This role is responsible for following all safety guidelines and procedures, understanding job safety analyses and energy safe procedures, and collaborating with employees and management. The Production Assistant must understand and follow lockout-tagout procedures, accurately read and interpret plant order information, and adhere to all quality rules and SQF policies. They will assist the Operator with machine setup and adjustments, use various material handling equipment, and perform housekeeping duties. The role may also involve operating a forklift, reading a tape measure, and utilizing basic math and computer skills. Other duties may be assigned by the Department Supervisor or Manager.

Requirements

• Minimum of a High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED)
• Able to lift to 80 pounds
• Able to work any day and any shift, including weekends and overnight shifts
• Able to work overtime as needed
• Basic math skills including ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide fractions
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to use a computer and to use and understand computer software

• Previous machine operator experience

Responsibilities

• Follow all safety guidelines and procedures as required
• Understand the Job Safety Analysis and Energy Safe Procedures for the position and machine
• Collaborate and communicate with all levels of employees and management
• Understand and follow lockout – tagout procedures for assigned equipment
• Accurately read and interpret plant order information (POF), and complete required forms accurately and in a timely manner
• Understand and follow all quality rules and procedures and performs required quality checks on product being produced
• Understand and follow all SQF policies and procedures including, but not limited to, procedures for food safety, housekeeping, personal hygiene, and auditing
• Assist Operator with setup of machine and machine adjustments as needed
• Use hand truck, drum dolly and electric pallet jack
• Perform housekeeping duties in work area, including sweeping, mopping, picking up and disposing of trash
• May be required to operate forklift truck
• Read a tape measure
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Department Supervisor or Manager
