About The Position

This role is responsible for maintaining and repairing various mechanical and electrical systems within a manufacturing plant. The technician will work on pneumatic and hydraulic systems, electrical control systems, and a variety of mechanical equipment. The position requires troubleshooting skills, the ability to work under pressure, and a commitment to minimizing downtime and improving overall equipment effectiveness (OEE). The role also involves reading electrical schematics, ordering components, and working at heights using lifts.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of experience as a maintenance mechanic in a manufacturing plant.
  • Minimum 4 years of experience repairing W&H Tuber and Bottomer machines (preferred).
  • Minimum of a High School Diploma.
  • Ability to lift 41-70 pounds.
  • Ability to walk or stand for at least 5 hours.
  • Ability to see colors for electrical work.
  • Interest in learning new equipment.
  • Self-starter.

  • Bachelor of Science degree or mechanic certifications
  • Flexographic Printing Presses experience
  • High-Speed Packaging Line experience

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and repair pneumatic systems, including high-pressure compressed air distribution systems.
  • Maintain and repair hydraulic systems, including cylinders and pumps.
  • Troubleshoot electrical control systems, including Siemens Simatic, Allen Bradley Logic 5000, Allen Bradley Logic 500, Beckhoff controls, proximity switches, relay logic, limit switches, network communication systems, and Profibus and Profinet.
  • Configure inverters, VFDs, servos, encoders, and motors.
  • Perform basic troubleshooting using multimeters, insulation testers, meggers, oscilloscopes, and clamp-on amp meters.
  • Understand and apply safety requirements, including OSHA regulations, LOTO, Arc Flash, and PPE.
  • Work on mechanical systems such as packaging conveyor systems, chain drives, gearboxes, drive shafts, pulley systems, sprockets, rollers, solenoids, valves, splitter blades, bearings, shafts, rollers, belts, timing belts, and chains.
  • Work at heights and operate scissor lifts, forklifts, and boom lifts.
  • Assess equipment failures, determine root causes, and perform effective repairs under pressure.
  • Prioritize jobs and make critical decisions to reduce downtime and enhance OEE.
  • Read European electrical schematics and order components.
  • See colors for electrical work.
  • Learn new equipment and be a self-starter.
