Production Assembly ( 1st & 2nd Shift)
About The Position
Serta Simmons Bedding is seeking motivated Mattress Assemblers for its manufacturing plant in Greene, New York. The role contributes to the mattress production process by assembling products with precision, teamwork, and attention to detail in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Employees follow work instructions and production tickets, meet quality and production standards, and work as part of a team in a safety-focused plant engaged in Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement. The position is available on first shift (6:00 a.m.–2:30 p.m. EST) or second shift (3:30 p.m.–12:00 a.m. EST). First-shift base pay is $21.00 per hour; second shift includes a $2.00-per-hour differential. Starting pay may depend on factors including location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for at least 8 hours per day, or longer when overtime is required.
- Ability to lift heavy products or raw materials weighing up to 120 pounds multiple times per hour during an 8-hour shift; heavy loads must be team-lifted.
- Ability to comprehend and follow work instructions and production tickets.
- Ability to understand and follow verbal instructions and communicate clearly and respectfully with coworkers and management.
- Ability to work in an ever-changing, fast-paced team environment.
- Production within the range specified for the position is required to maintain the integrity of the make-to-order system.
- Employees must comply with COVID policies established by a vendor or customer.
Nice To Haves
- Previous experience working with pneumatic tools and/or in a manufacturing environment is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Assemble mattresses according to established work instructions using pneumatic tools, including c-ring/hog-ring guns, staple guns, and hot glue guns.
- Assemble Hot Melt Bond (HMB) units using the HMB machine.
- Apply specified upholstered layers to HMB units, open coil units, and foam-encased pocketed coil units.
- Complete foam encasing and final mattress assembly processes while meeting quality and production standards.
- Inspect mattress components and finished products for structural defects, damage, or other unacceptable flaws.
- Follow work instructions and production tickets and communicate respectfully with coworkers and management.
