About The Position

The Production Artisan/Scenic Carpenter supports QVC and HSN by constructing and producing sets, environments, and fixtures that support the on-air image, product presentation, and sales while maintaining QVC’s style. This is an onsite role at QVC Group’s West Chester, Pennsylvania headquarters, with a part-time schedule that includes days, weekdays, and holidays. Relocation assistance is not available. The role involves building scenery from a range of materials, painting scenery, producing signs, and supporting the setup and breakdown of sets and rigging. The Production Artisan also maintains and repairs set pieces and furniture and manages the warehouse of sets and furniture.

Requirements

A bachelor’s degree in a related art field or television production, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
Experience working with Gerber, a CNC router, Photoshop, and construction power tools.
Availability to work a part-time schedule that includes days, weekdays, and holidays.

Nice To Haves

Two or more years of demonstrated experience with set construction or technical or design work in television, theatrical, or entertainment operations; valued but not required.
General carpentry experience in cabinetry or furniture building.
Experience with AutoCAD, Vectorworks, or a 3D printer.

Responsibilities

Construct scenery using a variety of construction techniques and materials, including wood, steel, aluminum, plastics, fiberglass, polyurethane and other foams, laminates, and composites.
Paint scenery using industry-common scene-painting techniques and materials.
Produce signs using Gerber vinyl and CNC equipment, along with Photoshop and Gerber software.
Handle load-ins and strikes of stock scenery for custom proprietary shows, 24-hour events, and new proprietary lines.
Assemble and disassemble sets and rigging.
Paint scenic floors and place furniture and set props.
Manage the warehouse of sets and furniture, including repairing sets and furniture.
