About The Position

The Product Support Sales Representative (PSSR) is responsible for calling on users of Electric Power Generation units to offer maintenance and repair options through Altorfer Power Systems. This role aims to promote territorial service objectives and help users reduce operating costs by recommending suitable service products. Additionally, the PSSR will engage with prospective customers for parts and full chassis service opportunities within the Caterpillar On-Highway Truck division. The PSSR will be assigned a territory and customer base by the Product Support Sales Manager, with a weekly call quota and responsibility for attending weekly staff meetings to report on progress. Local travel is required, utilizing a company car and fuel, and the ideal candidate is a "road warrior."

Requirements

  • Must possess a valid driver’s license with clean driving record. This includes no more than 2 minor violations within the past 3 years and no major violations within the past 5 years (Motor Vehicle Report will be performed on final candidate).
  • Computer proficiency in excel, access, Power Point and CRM software.

Nice To Haves

  • A two or four year undergraduate degree from an accredited college preferred.
  • Previous experience in a service organization, power systems sales or related sales coordination role preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Works closely with Parts, Service, and Inside Sales to ensure all customers receive an exceptional level of customer satisfaction for their Truck and Generator service.
  • Practices fundamentals of good sales techniques, prospecting, telemarketing, preparing effective sales presentations, use of sales aids, closing, etc.
  • Aggressively work Prospect Customer list for all engine and full chassis opportunities.
  • Profile all assigned accounts following the Product Support Sales Manager’s direction and perform periodic maintenance throughout the year.
  • Maintain an in-person account frequency of 12 per week with one office day.
  • Aggressively promote all current service and parts special sales promotions including but not limited to CSA, ESC, Parts Store, etc.
  • Submit all customer communication indicating contact and subjects discussed in Sales Link Activities.
  • Monitor customer database in Sales Link for contact name changes, addresses and phone number changes, account name change, email and unit information assignment.
  • Maintain, as necessary, library of all Caterpillar service publications.
  • Assist with maintenance of engine serial numbers/unit numbers and contact information for all customers utilizing Sales Link.
  • Utilize Truck.Cat.Com as one safe source of information for the on-highway engine business.
  • Participate in factory visits, work with and join local trade associations and other related commercial marketing account activity.
  • Aggressively look for non-Cat sales opportunities in A.O.R. and report customer contact information and current competitor when available in Sales Link under prospects and applicable Campaign.
  • Assist with credit issues should a charge customer’s account become delinquent.
  • Submit expense reports with receipts for all expenses incurred to A/P the first Monday of the new month.
