About The Position

BlueLinx is seeking a Product Sales Manager - Cedar to join their dynamic team. This role focuses on building products, sales, and relationship building, offering opportunities for career advancement. The ideal candidate will have strong product and analytical knowledge and be comfortable working across the organization, with customers, and suppliers. The position involves supplier management, pricing, inventory planning, promotions, marketing, forecasting, and strategy for assigned product categories, as well as facilitating the sales process from opportunity identification to closing and customer service. The role also involves partnering with suppliers and internal teams to meet service levels, manage inventory turns, and minimize overstock.

Requirements

  • 5-7+ years’ experience with a bachelor’s degree - equivalent industry experience preferred.
  • Self-motivated, high energy, persistent, and sense of urgency.
  • Proven track record of sales success – ability to drive growth as well as maintain a large book of business.
  • Demonstrated success in problem solving - must be creative and innovative.
  • Ability to organize, prioritize and work cross functionally.
  • Superior Interpersonal skills - proficient in both written and verbal communications.
  • Working knowledge of assigned product line, customer support/service, and inventory management.
  • Possesses well developed consultative selling skills, and confident in negotiation win/win outcomes.
  • Negotiates prices, provides market updates, prospects, and evaluates sales funnels.
  • Experienced in Microsoft Office Suite including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Responsibilities

  • Manages strategic relationships between BlueLinx and key suppliers within assigned categories.
  • Manages remanufacturing strategies for less-desirable sizes to balance inventory and align with turn-day targets.
  • Establishes mutual goals with key suppliers, aligns expectations, and reviews progress during Quarterly Business Reviews.
  • Has assigned product responsibility including managing inventory levels, product sourcing, managing inventory turns, building vendor relationships, providing local sales plans/forecasts, and purchasing decisions.
  • Procures inventory into hub locations that service multiple BlueLinx regions.
  • Manages inventory turns to targeted levels while minimizing overstock exposure.
  • Reviews and manages internal transfers ensuring tallies align with industry standards.
  • Manages transfer outflows by recommending alternative SKUs to maintain flow and avoid purchase order backlogs.
  • Supports the commercial team with inventory guidance to ensure service levels are met while achieving inventory benchmarks.
  • Identifies new sales opportunities with existing customers.
  • Maximizes sales efforts by focusing sales time on largest most profitable opportunities (may include segmenting account list and creating customer / product sales plans).
  • Provides suppliers with forward-looking purchase forecasts to support effective supply-chain planning.
  • Responsible for all aspects of internal sales process for assigned products including promoting product to other sales employees, product pricing, developing promotional literature, and market intelligence.
  • Supports pricing PLRs and National Account programs related to assigned categories.
  • Improves profitability, product penetration, and product mix with all customers.
  • Manages risk through appropriate procurement strategies and development of product roadmaps.
  • Evaluates market conditions and develops new supplier relationships to ensure product offerings align with building and construction trends.
  • Qualifies sales opportunities through market / customer research and teaming with outside sales representatives.
  • Develops sales solutions and competitive pricing strategies.
  • Communicates value proposition to customers.
  • Proposes sales solutions to customers and reevaluates solutions where necessary.
  • Closes sales opportunities by gaining purchase orders and executing all order fulfillment procedures.
  • Provides outstanding customer service and post sales satisfaction, facilitating long-term relationships for repeat business.
