About The Position

Merit Advisors is seeking a Product Owner, Technology Operations to own and evolve a portfolio of critical third-party business applications that support how the firm operates. This role is designed for someone with a product ownership and operational mindset who enjoys translating business needs into clear priorities, improving end-to-end workflows, managing change, and driving adoption of technology-enabled solutions. You will act as the primary owner of assigned applications, accountable for their roadmap, configuration, and enhancement backlog, while ensuring alignment to business outcomes. You will partner closely with business leaders, end users, vendors, and internal technology teams to understand needs, prioritize work, optimize processes, and ensure tools are fit for purpose. This is a high-visibility role in balancing strategy and execution, facilitating cross-functional conversations, managing competing priorities, and driving continuous improvement through influence rather than formal authority.

Requirements

  • 3–6 years of experience as a Product Owner, Business Analyst, Systems Owner, Consultant, or similar role supporting business applications.
  • Experience owning or supporting third-party SaaS or enterprise platforms.
  • Strong ability to translate ambiguous business needs into clear, actionable product requirements and priorities.
  • Demonstrated experience improving business processes through system configuration, workflow optimization, or automation.
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to influence crossfunctional teams.
  • Experience leading discovery, gathering requirements, and managing enhancement backlogs.
  • Comfort working across multiple initiatives, managing competing priorities, and bringing structure to fast-moving environments.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities with attention to detail and follow-through.
  • Ability to move fluidly between business context, process design, and system-level detail.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Information Systems, Technology, Operations, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.

  • Experience in a consulting, internal product, or transformation-oriented environment.

  • Familiarity with workflow, project, collaboration, or automation platforms and related product management tools.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as Product Owner for assigned third-party applications, accountable for vision, roadmap, backlog, and ongoing evolution.
  • Lead structured discovery with business stakeholders to understand objectives, pain points, workflows, and system dependencies.
  • Translate business needs into clear user stories, requirements, acceptance criteria, and prioritized backlogs.
  • Map and document current-state and future-state workflows to ensure applications support efficient, scalable processes.
  • Conduct gap analyses to identify system limitations, manual workarounds, integration gaps, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Prioritize enhancement requests and configuration changes based on business value, risk, and operational impact.
  • Facilitate working sessions, demos, and reviews with stakeholders to align priorities, clarify requirements, and drive decisions.
  • Partner with vendors and internal technology teams to design, configure, test, and implement application enhancements.
  • Design and support process changes associated with system updates, ensuring clarity around roles, handoffs, and controls.
  • Develop executive-ready updates, roadmaps, recommendations, and decision materials for leadership and stakeholders.
  • Support change adoption through communications, training support, documentation, and reinforcement of new ways of working.
  • Establish and maintain application governance, including intake processes, prioritization frameworks, and release planning.
  • Monitor system performance, user feedback, and operational outcomes to drive continuous improvement.
  • Serve as a trusted thought partner to the Technology Operations Manager on application strategy, prioritization, and operational effectiveness.
