About The Position

We are sharing a specialised part-time consulting opportunity for experienced product marketing professionals with hands-on expertise in positioning, product launches, enablement, adoption analysis, competitive strategy, and win/loss research. This role focuses on designing and evaluating realistic product marketing environments that reflect the tools, data, workflows, and judgement calls encountered in professional marketing organisations. Selected experts will create authentic scenarios, define expected outcomes, review completed work, and establish standards that distinguish strong product marketing judgement from plausible but ineffective approaches.

Requirements

  • Hands-on professional experience in product marketing
  • Experience personally owning product launches, positioning, and enablement, rather than solely managing teams responsible for execution
  • Strong understanding of win/loss analysis, positioning, launch readiness, adoption, and competitive strategy
  • Comfortable working with a CRM such as Salesforce
  • Experience interpreting product analytics through platforms such as Amplitude
  • Comfortable using project-management tools such as Asana, Linear, or equivalent platforms
  • Strong ability to analyse incomplete or conflicting market, customer, and product information
  • Clear written reasoning and ability to explain why a product marketing decision is effective or ineffective

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience developing AI training environments, reinforcement-learning environments, or simulated business case studies is strongly preferred
  • Rubric Academy or Rubric Bootcamp certification is strongly preferred
  • Comfortable working independently with structured evaluation frameworks and project guidelines

Responsibilities

  • Product Marketing Scenario Design: Develop realistic tasks based on product marketing work you have personally performed, define the underlying business issue and the decision a strong practitioner should reach, create scenarios involving incomplete, conflicting, or messy product and market information, ensure tasks require genuine professional judgement rather than simple information retrieval, and design challenges that reflect real-world product marketing workflows.
  • Positioning & Messaging: Develop and evaluate scenarios involving product positioning and market differentiation, assess messaging against customer needs, market context, and competitive alternatives, review value propositions, positioning choices, and supporting evidence, identify weak assumptions, inconsistent messaging, or unclear differentiation, and apply practical judgement grounded in hands-on product marketing experience.
  • Product Launch Strategy: Design scenarios involving launch planning, readiness, and execution, evaluate launch priorities, dependencies, sequencing, and stakeholder coordination, assess whether launch plans appropriately reflect market and customer considerations, identify readiness gaps or execution risks, and review recommendations for practical launch effectiveness.
  • Sales & Go-to-Market Enablement: Evaluate enablement materials and go-to-market support, review whether messaging, positioning, and supporting information equip commercial teams effectively, assess alignment between product marketing, sales, and broader go-to-market objectives, identify gaps in enablement strategy or execution, and evaluate recommendations for improving market-facing readiness.
  • Win/Loss Analysis: Develop and review scenarios involving win/loss research, analyse customer feedback, sales information, competitive dynamics, and deal outcomes, assess whether conclusions are supported by available evidence, identify recurring patterns, positioning weaknesses, or competitive issues, and evaluate recommendations based on win/loss findings.
  • Adoption & Product Performance: Review product adoption and behavioural data, assess usage patterns, customer engagement, and potential barriers to adoption, evaluate whether proposed actions are supported by available product analytics, identify misleading interpretations or overlooked signals, and review recommendations for improving product adoption and market performance.
  • Competitive Intelligence & Response: Develop scenarios involving competitor activity and market changes, evaluate competitive positioning and response strategies, assess trade-offs between alternative product marketing actions, identify unsupported assumptions or overreactions to competitive developments, and apply practical judgement to competitive response decisions.
  • Marketing Systems & Data: Work with simulated environments containing realistic email, storage, CRM, project management, social media management, web analytics, SEO/AEO, advertising, CMS, product analytics, and customer-support information, specify the documents, dashboards, personas, and tool states required for authentic product marketing scenarios, reconcile information across multiple systems and sources, evaluate whether recommendations appropriately reflect available customer, product, and commercial data, and identify missed dependencies, inconsistencies, or workflow failures.
  • CRM, Product Analytics & Project Management: Work with workflows modelled on a CRM such as Salesforce, review product analytics from platforms such as Amplitude, work with project-management tools such as Asana, Linear, or equivalent platforms, assess product, customer, and commercial information across interconnected systems, and evaluate whether proposed decisions appropriately integrate data from multiple sources.
  • Reference Answers & Evaluation Criteria: Write or review reference solutions for product marketing scenarios, define clear criteria separating strong professional responses from plausible but incorrect ones, establish standards for diagnosis, positioning, prioritisation, launch execution, and competitive judgement, explain why particular decisions are stronger or weaker, and ensure evaluation criteria reflect realistic product marketing practice.
  • Quality Review & Evaluation: Review completed scenarios and evaluate proposed product marketing decisions, assess diagnostic reasoning, prioritisation, trade-offs, planning, execution, and reporting, evaluate multi-step work spanning several marketing and product tools, identify missed issues, incorrect interpretations, or weak recommendations, and provide clear written reasoning supporting evaluation decisions.
