About The Position

Latch is hiring a Product Manager to make its platform effective for a science team of more than 100 people. The role translates scientists’ and operations team members’ needs into clear product priorities and ensures that the resulting work improves how they do their jobs. The Product Manager will work closely with engineering, define and track outcome-oriented metrics, and balance close observation of users’ workflows with strategic prioritization. The role reports to Chief Product Officer Hannah Le. The position is on-site in San Francisco, close to science, partnerships, operations, and engineering. The team meets on Mondays and Fridays and otherwise meets as needed. Work is judged by project quality and timely delivery rather than hours, and PTO is unlimited. The company describes its culture as transparent, collaborative, respectful, and focused on innovation and output.

  • Ability to investigate detailed workflows while also thinking strategically and prioritizing the greatest-impact problems.
  • An undergraduate biology background is sufficient; the candidate does not need to be a scientist.

Responsibilities

  • Speak regularly with scientists using the platform, identify workflow difficulties, and translate findings into clear engineering priorities.
  • Understand operations challenges, including tracking progress, staffing projects, and identifying project needs, and prioritize features that address them.
  • Define meaningful product metrics and work with engineering to improve them.
  • Frame product work around impact and direct team effort toward the highest-impact opportunities.
  • Investigate users’ actual workflows, identify major pain points, and create prototypes and mockups to communicate product flows to engineers.
