Product Manager

Bottomline•Portsmouth, NH

About The Position

Bottomline is hiring a collaborative, hands-on Product Manager for its Business Payments Network team to support the continued evolution of Paymode across fraud prevention, security, and compliance. This delivery-focused role translates priorities and established roadmap initiatives, set in partnership with senior product colleagues, into executable work and supports delivery throughout the product development lifecycle. The Product Manager works closely with development teams and partners across Product, Engineering, Security/CISO, Network Operations, and other stakeholder groups. The role requires clear communication with technical teams and senior stakeholders, adaptability across projects and priorities, and a focus on defining desired outcomes rather than prescribing technical solutions. The successful candidate will help identify opportunities to use data, automation, and improved product experiences to strengthen fraud and compliance capabilities while considering customer experience and applicable security, legal, and regulatory guardrails. Fraud, risk, or compliance experience is useful, but deep regulatory expertise is not required.

Requirements

  • Experience translating business problems and desired outcomes into clear requirements, user stories, and executable development work.
  • Confidence working directly with software development teams in an Agile environment.
  • Strong communication skills and confidence working with technical teams and senior business stakeholders.
  • An adaptable, collaborative approach to working across projects, priorities, and stakeholder groups.
  • Focus on outcomes rather than prescribing technical solutions, allowing engineering teams to determine architecture and implementation.
  • Curiosity about using data and automation to improve products, processes, and decision-making.
  • Confidence constructively questioning established processes and exploring new ways to solve problems.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with tools such as Jira.
  • Experience in payments, fintech, financial services, fraud, security, risk, or compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Translate product priorities and established roadmap initiatives into actionable development work and support delivery through the full product development lifecycle.
  • Create clear business requirements, user stories, and acceptance criteria that communicate desired outcomes without unnecessarily prescribing technical solutions.
  • Partner with development teams on sprint planning, requirements clarification, status discussions, and execution of agreed priorities.
  • Build effective partnerships across Product, Engineering, Security/CISO, Network Operations, and other stakeholders to balance business, customer, security, and compliance needs.
  • Identify opportunities to use data and automation to improve decision-making, reduce manual processes, and strengthen fraud and compliance capabilities.
  • Question established ways of working constructively and help teams explore better approaches within security, legal, and regulatory guardrails.
  • Consider how product design and user experience can encourage compliant behavior without creating unnecessary friction or blockers for customers.
  • Represent Product with technical teams and senior stakeholders; communicate progress, priorities, dependencies, and challenges clearly.
  • Develop domain knowledge in fraud, security, risk, and compliance within B2B payments, working with internal specialists when deeper expertise is needed.
  • Support assessment of internal capabilities and third-party solutions based on business need, effectiveness, scalability, and fit within the wider product ecosystem.
