Product Manager - Developer Tools

Revel•Los Angeles, CA

About The Position

Revel is hiring a Product Manager to own how customers write, test, and ship RevelCode, the company’s domain-specific language for hardware control. The role owns both the language experience and the IDE being built for test and controls engineers whose code executes against physical systems, where confusing compiler errors or slow testing loops can increase the risk of mistakes reaching hardware. The Product Manager will own the full workflow for writing, testing, deploying, and monitoring RevelCode, including configuration editing and deployment to the runtime, unit testing control logic, version control, and dashboard generation. They will shape RevelCode usability across syntax, snippets, completion, diagnostics, and compiler errors; conduct customer and operator discovery, including at air-gapped sites; and develop an IDE strategy that explains its advantages over general-purpose editors and the tradeoffs customers make when features are not rebuilt. The role works alongside the engineering team building the runtime and language and collaborates with platform design and front-end engineering teams. It has direct exposure to the Head of Product and CEO and involves hands-on interaction with engineers writing control programs against real hardware. The company describes the work as high ownership and visibility, with tight feedback loops and competitive compensation and equity.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of product management experience on developer tools such as an IDE, code editor, language toolchain, CI system, or SDK.
  • Hands-on programming experience, including years spent writing and debugging code.

Nice To Haves

  • Conduct discovery with customers and operators, including at air-gapped sites, to understand which editor features they rely on.
  • Develop an IDE strategy that defines what the IDE does better than a general-purpose editor for control programs and explains what customers give up when features are not rebuilt.
  • Coordinate engineers to execute on a product vision and work closely with engineers on technical tradeoffs.
  • Collaborate with the engineering team building the runtime and language, as well as platform design and front-end engineering teams.
  • Work hands-on with engineers who write control programs against real hardware and use feedback from users to guide product decisions.
