Product Manager

Traversal•New York, NY
•Onsite

About The Position

Traversal is building an AI SRE for enterprise production environments. The Product Manager will build the product layer on top of the company’s AI agents, defining how they behave, communicate, and act, as well as the interfaces and experiences around them. The product is used by on-call engineers and SREs to troubleshoot incidents, work through alert channels, and answer operational questions. It spans a web app and headless surfaces, including Slack, Microsoft Teams, MCP integrations with coding agents, and an API. The role partners with customers, engineers, and AI researchers to shape product strategy and roadmap, and works across discovery, prototyping, agent prompts and evaluations, enterprise features, and rollout sequencing. The Product Manager will collaborate with forward-deployed engineers during customer POVs, convert customer gaps into shipped features, and help shape the product function as Traversal grows. The position is fully in-office five days a week in New York near Madison Square Park.

Requirements

  • Approximately 5 or more years of combined work experience across product management, engineering, or a similar role, including at least 2 years as a Product Manager.
  • Deep hands-on use of AI agents at work and in personal life, with strong opinions about what makes them effective.
  • Deep intuition for how LLMs and agents work, including when to add structure and when to let an agent operate freely.
  • Intuition for personal and multi-agent experiences and a sense of where agents are going next.
  • Strong taste in UI design and headless experiences, with judgment about when to use each.
  • Excellent writing skills, including concise and clear documentation, effective agent prompts, and clear customer communications.
  • High agency and willingness to do what the product needs, build and ship things directly, iterate quickly, and create structure where none exists.
  • Ability to bring prototypes to product reviews and ship and iterate quickly.
  • Exceptional customer skills and credibility with senior engineers at large enterprises.

Nice To Haves

  • Hands-on experience building a product that is itself an AI agent.
  • AI-powered side projects.
  • 1–2 or more years in a software engineering or SRE role.
  • Experience helping a company move from less structured to more structured.
  • Experience as an early Product Manager at a high-growth startup.
  • Experience with data-heavy or enterprise SaaS products.
  • Exposure to observability tooling, SRE workflows, or on-call environments.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with customers, engineers, and AI researchers to define product strategy and roadmap, leading discovery with SREs, platform engineers, and incident responders at large enterprises.
  • Build the product layer on top of Traversal’s AI agents across the web app and headless surfaces, including Slack, Microsoft Teams, MCP, and API.
  • Iterate on agent prompts and harnesses, run evaluations, and assess the quality of agent outputs.
  • Own features that make the product enterprise-ready, such as fine-grained access control and RBAC.
  • Prototype ideas and bring prototypes, rather than only PRDs, to product reviews.
  • Sequence rollouts by identifying MVPs, testing hypotheses on minimal surfaces with beta users, and expanding features over time.
  • Work with forward-deployed engineers during customer POVs to turn product gaps into shipped features quickly.
  • Bring ideas from across the agent ecosystem and anticipate the future direction of agents.
  • Shape the product function, including its roadmap, processes, and collaboration with a fast-growing engineering team.
