Product Manager, Retention & Monetization

Kikoff•San Francisco, CA
•$183,000 - $223,000•Hybrid

About The Position

Kikoff is hiring a Product Manager focused on retention and monetization for its core credit products. The role owns the roadmap for what happens after members sign up, including churn, reactivation, plan upgrades, pricing, and packaging. Success is measured by retained paying members and revenue per member. The position is full-time and hybrid, with three days onsite at the company’s San Francisco headquarters. The Product Manager uses product data and user research to understand engagement, churn, and willingness to pay, then develops retention and engagement loops across product, communications, and alerts. The role experiments with experiences, offers, and content; owns revenue-driving levers and cancellation, save, and win-back flows; and develops user segments and strategic insights to guide engineering, design, and marketing roadmaps. The role works with leadership and a product team to set and deliver a roadmap, leads product discovery, makes evidence-based decisions, partners with legal and compliance on consumer-protection standards, and champions products internally and with consumers.

Requirements

  • Excellent writing and communication skills for communicating with users and internal stakeholders and driving strategy, learning, and iteration.
  • Willingness to work across the member journey, including copy, communications, offers, product touch points, and measurement and interpretation of results.
  • Strong data-driven approach and ability to investigate the causes of user behavior and metric patterns.
  • Comfort with cohort analysis, lifetime value, and unit economics.
  • Experience owning a retention, lifecycle, growth, or monetization metric and improving it through experimentation.
  • Empathy for consumers and passion for solving consumer problems in innovative ways.
  • Ability to take ownership and guide work toward outcomes while recognizing when others should lead.
  • At least 2 years of experience working on successful digital consumer products.
  • Adaptability to take on multiple roles, including marketer, researcher, interface designer, analyst, and user advocate.
  • Interest in or experience with modern consumer financial tools and products, and a perspective on innovation in the space.
  • Motivation, curiosity, and adaptability.
  • Excellent communication, analytical, and first-principles problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated leadership potential and eagerness to learn.
  • Strategic thinking and ability to structure problems, assess opportunities, and develop ideas and priorities to move a business forward.
  • Commercial instinct focused on retained users and revenue, not only engagement.
  • Bias toward action and ability to move quickly and flexibly.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in a fast-paced startup environment.
  • Experience with pricing, subscriptions, paywalls, or upgrade flows.
  • Ability to pull data with SQL and read code; a technical background is a plus.
  • Current undergraduate or master’s student, or an early-career professional with high potential, including experience from consulting or investment banking.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze product data and speak with users to understand engagement, churn, and what members value enough to pay for.
  • Create retention and engagement loops using content and product, communications, and alert touch points.
  • Develop and experiment with experiences, offers, and content to keep users active, retained, and upgrading.
  • Own revenue-per-member levers, including pricing, packaging, plan upgrades, paywalls, and cross-selling other Kikoff products.
  • Own cancellation, save, and win-back flows to reduce churn while maintaining member trust.
  • Use retention, lifetime value, revenue data, and user stories to develop strategic insights that shape engineering, design, and marketing roadmaps.
  • Create member segments based on value, risk, and intent, and develop relevant insights, offers, and content to support engagement and monetization.
  • Work with leadership and the product team to outline and deliver a roadmap that achieves team objectives.
  • Lead product discovery to understand consumers and identify products and features that empower them and encourage them to stay and pay.
  • Capture and analyze data to inform decisions and continuously evolve product approaches.
  • Partner with legal and compliance to ensure pricing, disclosures, and cancellation experiences meet consumer-protection standards.
  • Champion products within the team, across the company, and with consumers.
