Product Manager, Payments

Dorsia•New York, NY
•$150,000 - $210,000•Onsite

About The Position

Dorsia is seeking a Product Manager, Payments to own Dorsia Pay and the full member payment experience, from card on file and deposits through checkout, split bills, tipping, settlement, and post-dining support. At Dorsia, the best payment is the one a member never has to think about. We're getting there with agents that understand intent, use payment tools, act within clear permissions, recover from exceptions, and move real money on a member's behalf. The hardest problem in agentic commerce is trust, and this role owns it. This is a builder role at the boundary of product, engineering, and operations. You won't just write requirements for AI features or bolt on off-the-shelf copilots. You'll prototype agents yourself, define their tools and decision boundaries, write the evals, read the traces, and decide how much autonomy they've earned before they reach production. The right candidate has hands-on experience in consumer payments or digital wallets, has shipped payment features on mobile, and has built and deployed agents that take real actions in production, beyond features that only summarize or suggest. You'll be accountable for payment conversion, adoption, authorization rates, agent task completion, member trust, and operational leverage.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Finance, Economics, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 3-5 years in product management roles, with a proven track record of owning consumer payments, digital wallet, or fintech surfaces end to end.
  • AI-native builder who has built and deployed agents that take real actions in production, beyond features that only summarize or suggest.
  • Hands-on experience shipping payment features on mobile, including card on file, Apple Pay, deposits, split bills, and tipping.
  • Comfort prototyping agent behaviors in code, writing evals, and reading traces to decide how much autonomy an agent has earned.
  • Strong understanding of payments infrastructure, including processor integrations, tokenization, authorization rates, venue payouts, ledgers, and reconciliation.
  • Sound judgment on trust and risk, with experience defining permissions, controls, and audit trails alongside risk, legal, and compliance partners.
  • Working knowledge of disputes, chargebacks, fraud triage, and the operational edge cases that come with moving real money.
  • Advanced analytical skills, including the ability to query, model, and interpret data using SQL, Mixpanel, Looker, and agent traces.
  • Excellent communication and storytelling skills, able to explain complex payment and agent behaviors and inspire alignment toward a solution.
  • Strong product intuition backed by rigorous user research and usability testing, with a talent for designing confirmation, rollback, and handoff patterns members trust.
  • Builder's mindset with a bias for action, a high level of ownership, and comfort with ambiguity and rapid iteration.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with emerging agent payment protocols and agentic commerce standards is a strong plus, as is experience in hospitality or luxury consumer products.

Responsibilities

  • Shape the roadmap for Dorsia Pay and the in-app wallet, with agentic payments at the core.
  • Build and ship agents that settle checks, handle deposits and tipping, and recover failed payments on members' behalf.
  • Define each agent's tools, context, permissions, and escalation paths, with hard limits on amount, risk, and reversibility.
  • Prototype agent behaviors in code, get them in front of users in days, and partner with engineering to ship what works.
  • Build golden task sets and adversarial evals before launch, inspect production traces, and expand autonomy only when the evidence earns it.
  • Audit and optimize core payment flows, from card onboarding and Apple Pay through split bills, tipping, and post-dining support.
  • Replace multi-screen workflows with intent, so a member can split a bill, add a guest, or fix a charge with a single request.
  • Design for delegation, so members can hand a payment job to an agent and trust the outcome.
  • Build confirmation, explanation, rollback, and human-handoff patterns for ambiguous or high-stakes actions.
  • Turn wireframes and agent behaviors into testable builds in days, then refine them through live traces and usability testing.
  • Partner with engineering and finance on processor integrations, tokenization, venue payouts, ledgers, and reconciliation.
  • Help build a reusable agentic payments platform with shared tools, policies, evals, and observability.
  • Deploy back-office agents for reconciliation, disputes, fraud triage, and payout exceptions as volume scales.
  • Turn operators' repeated judgment calls into safe, testable agent capabilities.
  • Partner with risk, legal, and compliance to define the controls, audit trails, and scoped permissions for agent-initiated transactions.
  • Stay close to member and venue behavior through interviews, funnel data, support conversations, and agent traces.
  • Build agents that turn tickets, disputes, and failed tasks into product requirements and new eval cases.
  • Track emerging agent payment protocols, competitor wallets, and agentic-commerce standards as they take shape.
  • Bring a sharp point of view on what members will trust an agent to do with their money, and how Dorsia leads that category in hospitality.
  • Partner with analytics to pinpoint payment drop-off, failed transactions, and agent failure modes.
  • Build agentic workflows that detect anomalies, diagnose root causes, and route fixes to the right owner.
  • Own the agent quality bar across task success, accuracy, latency, cost, override rate, and escalation rate.
  • Use Mixpanel, Looker, and traces to move from signal to action quickly.
  • Tie agent performance to member and business outcomes, and use it to decide where agents earn more autonomy.

Benefits

  • We are, unapologetically, a people-first organization.
