About The Position

The Product Management, Payment Applications Solutions Lead owns Verifone's semi-integrated and fully integrated payment application portfolio for the North America region serving ISVs, partners, enterprise retail, QSR, and financial institution customers. This is an individual contributor role carrying the scope of a functional owner. It combines product management (strategy, roadmap, prioritization), product ownership (requirements definition, backlog, sprint-level partnership), technical program management (milestone definition, dependency management, and hands-on driving of technical implementation), and product commercialization (certification and listing paths, part number and boarding setup, launch readiness). The successful candidate brings ability to influence without authority, drive deep cross functional relationships and drive a cohesive North America solutions delivery plan in partnership with engineering. They also have firsthand expertise in card-present payment environments, deep familiarity with payment terminal hardware and the certification ecosystem, and the organizational instincts to drive cross-functional execution.

Requirements

• 10+ years in product management, technical program management, or a closely related technical product role within payments; Senior Director level or equivalent scope.
• Hands-on expertise in card-present, in-store payment environments — POS and ECR integration, payment terminals, PIN entry, contactless/NFC, and the in-store transaction lifecycle.
• Deep working knowledge of both semi-integrated and fully integrated payment application architectures, and the practical trade-offs between them for merchants and ISVs.
• Direct experience with EMV certification — L1/L2/L3, kernel and brand/acquirer certification — including realistic lead times, testing dependencies, and the effect of certification on release planning.
• Working knowledge of the processor and acquirer certification ecosystem, including the practical difference between Class A certification and Class B listing, and what each requires operationally to complete.
• Working familiarity with payment security and compliance frameworks relevant to in-store applications: PCI PTS, PCI DSS, P2PE, tokenization, and key management.
• Experience with Android-based payment device platforms and the migration of legacy terminal application estates onto them.
• Able to read and interrogate a technical specification, API contract, or integration guide and hold a substantive, credible debate with engineering on design and feasibility.
• Comfortable with API-level integration concepts, terminal SDKs, host/processor message specifications, and estate/device management tooling.
• High fluency in Jira and Confluence for backlog, roadmap, requirements, and program management — these are the operating tools of the role, and the successful candidate will inherit and extend an existing documentation architecture in both.
• Comfortable working with Salesforce pipeline data and quarterly grooming models to connect commercial forecast to roadmap capacity.
• Strong Agile/Scrum experience operating as product owner across multiple concurrent scrum teams.
• Demonstrated ability to author PRDs and to support BRD development for enterprise customer implementations.

Nice To Haves

• Direct familiarity with Verifone's payment application and platform portfolio — SCA, AGPA, XPI, VHQ — and with Verifone device families.
• Experience spanning payment gateway products and their interlock with terminal-resident applications.
• Experience serving ISV and VAR channels alongside direct enterprise retail, QSR, and financial institution customers.
• Experience managing product-side strategic partnerships with processors, acquirers, or platform partners, including joint solution definition and shared certification programs.
• Background in New Product Introduction and hardware/software readiness sequencing for regional launches.
• Familiarity with cellular carrier certification for payment devices (AT&T, T-Mobile, Verizon), including network sunset planning.
• Exposure to MPoC/SoftPOS, mobile acceptance, or unattended and self-checkout payment environments.
• Prior experience operating in a global product organization with regional go-to-market accountability.
• Experience establishing product operations discipline — intake, prioritization frameworks, capacity planning — where none previously existed.

Responsibilities

• Own the North America semi-integrated and fully integrated payment application portfolio and planning — SCA, AGPA, and XPI — across the ISV/VAR, enterprise retail, QSR, and financial institution verticals
• Organize and triage all demand intake into the portfolio, from customer commitments, commercial teams, executive sponsors, certification bodies, and internal stakeholders.
• Build and publish prioritized roadmaps each fiscal quarter, including quarterly backlog grooming across product areas, and sequence work against business impact, capacity, and dependency reality.
• Establish running 12 month roadmaps.
• Identify and escalate conflicts between competing commitments early, and maintain a defensible, evidence-based position
• Maintain the operational plan and reporting apparatus for payment applications, including monthly roadmap status reporting to senior leadership.
• Partner with the L3 certification team to drive certification-impacting initiatives, and incorporate certification requirements, sequencing, and lead times into overall initiative planning.
• Write and own PRDs for material initiatives, translating market, customer, and executive intent into actionable engineering requirements.
• Support business analysts throughout the BRD process for net-new customer projects, resolving product, functional, and technical questions authoritatively.
• Identify where bespoke, SOW-driven customer requirements can be built as reusable platform capability applicable to future customers, and shape scope accordingly rather than delivering one-off solutions.
• Drive deeper requirements gathering where definition gaps would otherwise be resolved reactively during development.
• Serve as product owner for the payment application backlog, including grooming, acceptance criteria, and sprint-level partnership with scrum teams.
• Partner with engineering to define scope, requirements, milestones, and delivery sequencing for large multi-quarter initiatives across four scrum teams and 25+ engineers.
• Drive technical implementation actively — not solely schedule and status, but architectural and integration decisions, trade-off analysis, and unblocking of technical dependencies.
• Track cross-team dependencies and surface risk with sufficient lead time for the organization to act on it.
• Work with commercial teams to understand pipeline and revenue forecasts, and ensure forecasted opportunities are reflected in quarterly roadmap planning.
• Provide the product-side reality check that connects commercial ambition to delivery capacity before commitments are made externally.
• Elevate operational rigor in the interlock between Finance, Sales forecasting, executive priorities, and the known engineering backlog.
• Own the product-side relationship with strategic partners — processors, acquirers, gateways, and platform partners such as Worldpay, Fiserv, and Instamed — shaping joint solution scope, certification approach, and delivery sequencing.
• Represent partnership-driven requirements within North America roadmap planning, and assess where partner commitments create dependencies or capacity risk against existing plans.
• Coordinate closely with payment gateway product counterparts — a heavy and continuous interlock — as well as with FiPay, to align roadmaps, dependencies, and sequencing across product lines.
• Provide payment application pipeline visibility to peer product managers to support cross-functional planning.
