About The Position

This role is for a Product Manager II within the Microsoft Azure Storage Engineering team, focusing on hyperscale cloud computing. The position involves influencing the core of Azure’s software infrastructure by driving transformative programs to enhance platform reliability and scalability. Responsibilities include synthesizing complex requirements, leading the creation of innovative proof of concepts and prototypes, evaluating design alternatives, formalizing program roadmaps, and coordinating tactical execution across multiple engineering groups. The role also requires identifying strategic investment opportunities and charting Azure Storage’s direction through cross-team integration and collaboration within Microsoft. The ideal candidate will have proven expertise as a Product Manager / Technical Program Manager in hyperscale cloud initiatives, with strong analytical skills, technical judgment, and communication abilities to build consensus with executive leadership.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree AND 2+ years experience in product/service/program management or software development OR equivalent experience.
• Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role.
• This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Nice To Haves

• Bachelor's Degree AND 5+ years experience in product/service/program management or software development OR equivalent experience.
• 2+ years of experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects.
• 2+ years experience improving product metrics for a product, feature, or experience in a market (e.g., growing customer base, expanding customer usage, avoiding customer churn).
• 2+ years experience disrupting a market for a product, feature, or experience (e.g., competitive disruption, taking the place of an established competing product).
• 4+ years in technical product management, technical program management, or related technical roles.
• 2+ year experience with hyperscale cloud storage technologies, distributed systems, or enterprise customer needs.

Responsibilities

• Partner with Software and Hardware Engineering to design technical solutions across feature areas.
• Identify risks and propose data-based mitigations.
• Define success criteria and create relationships for implementing features for complex cross-functional projects.
• Coordinate and ensure alignment across organizations.
• Deliver on roadmap for multiple feature groups, track project schedules, develop staging and implementation plan, and manage governance programs.
• Drive continuous improvements by validating use cases and writing test cases from scratch.
• Lead teams to partner with other departments to collect performance metrics, drive customer support, and lead direct customer engagements.
