•$163,000 - $236,000

About The Position

Google is hiring a Product Manager II for YouTube Trust and Safety Detection. The role focuses on improving safety for the images and text people create across YouTube, including comments, community posts, live chat messages, thumbnails, profile pictures, banners, names, and descriptions. The position connects technical and business needs, guides products from conception through launch, and works cross-functionally to address complex product challenges. The product manager will help define how YouTube’s policies, detection systems, and human enforcement work together, establish a vision for image and text safety, and identify necessary changes to policies, systems, or processes. The role also owns measurement goals across features and policies and aims to create shared safety systems that YouTube teams can use. It includes supporting a smaller set of effective detection models and making considered trade-offs about investment and simplification.

  • Experience in trust and safety, product policy, business strategy, or a related field.
  • Experience developing product strategy for AI/ML-driven products or product features.

  • Experience defining quality or safety metrics and building measurement systems, including sampling, human rating programs, or automated raters.
  • Experience owning a platform or shared service used by many internal product teams.
  • Experience making engineering trade-offs between accuracy, speed, and cost in machine learning systems.
  • Experience designing operational response processes with operations or support teams.

  • Define how safety is measured for every feature and policy, and own the goals.
  • Turn feature-by-feature safety work into a shared system that any YouTube team can use.
  • Support having fewer, better detection models instead of many overlapping models.
