About The Position

YouTube’s Trust and Safety team works to make YouTube a safe place for users, viewers, and content creators while supporting expression and addressing online content concerns. The Rapid Response team oversees escalations across YouTube product areas. The Policy Escalation Specialist manages escalations across Trust and Safety and YouTube, creates pathways to resolution, communicates with stakeholders and executives, develops preventative solutions, and helps assess platform risk. The role also involves reviewing graphic, controversial, and sometimes offensive video content under YouTube’s Community Guidelines. Rotational on-call work during weekends and holidays is required. Individual pay depends on job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. The listed US compensation is $95,000–$135,000, plus a 15% bonus target, equity, and benefits.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
At least 2 years of experience in data analytics, Trust and Safety, policy, cybersecurity, support operations, or a related field.

Nice To Haves

Master’s degree in a relevant field.
Experience in content policy, anti-abuse, and reviewing online content.
Experience working with international issues across multiple geographies, including freedom of expression, child safety, or controversial online content.
Experience with spreadsheets, databases, SQL, and data analysis.
Ability to solve problems and think critically with attention to detail in an ever-changing environment.
Fluency in Portuguese and Spanish to support client relationship management.
Ability to work non-standard, on-call rotation hours, including weekends.

Responsibilities

Own and manage policy escalations, driving consensus across stakeholders.
Review graphic, controversial, and offensive video content in line with YouTube’s Community Guidelines.
Ensure escalations are triaged, tracked, investigated, resolved, and accurately communicated using internal tools and systems.
Develop knowledge across product areas to support faster, more efficient resolution; create post-mortems and work with Engineering.
Conduct strategic analysis, optimize business performance, and deliver within relevant product areas by analyzing data, identifying trends, and developing solutions.
Create pathways to resolution, communicate with key stakeholders and the executive team, develop preventative solutions, and help assess risk to the YouTube platform.
