Product Manager, Families
About The Position
The Youth Well-Being team at OpenAI focuses on ensuring young people have safe, age-appropriate, and positive experiences with AI. This team develops features such as age prediction, parental controls, and access to crisis support resources. The role of Product Manager, Families will lead OpenAI’s Family product efforts, shaping how families, caregivers, and older adults benefit from AI across OpenAI’s products. This is a high-impact role with the opportunity to improve daily life for millions of people, working closely with engineering, design, research, policy, legal, communications, finance, and operations teams. The position is based in San Francisco, CA, with relocation assistance available.
Requirements
- 7+ years of product management experience leading large-scale consumer or platform products.
- Experience building for parents, families, or in trust-sensitive products.
- Strong product judgment and ability to simplify complex problems.
- Ability to work effectively with technical teams and ship high-quality products.
- Analytical, user-focused, and excellent cross-functional communicator.
- Deep care about using AI to improve everyday life.
Responsibilities
- Set the product strategy for Family experiences across OpenAI products.
- Identify user needs and turn them into high-impact product opportunities, owning products end-to-end, from concept through launch and iteration.
- Build experiences that balance usefulness, simplicity, trust, safety, and accessibility.
- Define success metrics and use data and research to guide roadmap decisions.
- Partner cross-functionally to execute quickly and effectively.
