About The Position

Westland Insurance Group is seeking a Commercial Programs Product Manager to join their Underwriting team. This role is ideal for someone passionate about insurance product development, delegated authority programs, and creating differentiated solutions for growth and profitability. The position involves building innovative insurance products, collaborating across business functions, and balancing customer needs with underwriting performance. This is a hybrid position based out of their Surrey, BC head office, but candidates outside of current office locations may be considered.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or a related field
  • 3+ years of experience in insurance product development
  • 3+ years in commercial and/or specialty insurance underwriting or brokering
  • Strong understanding of commercial insurance products, coverages, policy wordings, delegated authority arrangements, and product lifecycle management
  • Highly analytical and detail-oriented, with the ability to assess complex business, underwriting, operational, and technology considerations
  • Self-motivated and accountable, able to work independently while managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Advanced proficiency with business technology including Microsoft Excel, SharePoint, and related tools
  • Strong communication, stakeholder management, organizational, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across technical and business teams

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, maintain, and enhance commercial insurance program products and delegated authority contracts, including coverages, wordings, documentation, and distribution workflows
  • Partner with various teams across Westland to develop competitive, profitable, and sustainable insurance products
  • Research competitor offerings and emerging market opportunities to inform product strategy, enhancements, and future program development
  • Define business, workflow, reporting, and documentation requirements, collaborating with stakeholders to ensure solutions meet operational and business needs
  • Monitor product performance through KPI reporting and analysis, communicating insights and recommendations to strengthen growth, profitability, and customer outcomes
  • Support product launches and ongoing enhancements through testing, training, issue resolution, stakeholder communication, and cross-functional project coordination
