About The Position

The Product Inspector is a General Laborer FSQA team member at Smithfield Foods who supports food safety and quality by performing production tasks and helping ensure products meet consumer quality requirements. The role uses hand tools, knives, measurement tools, and electronic handheld devices. It calls for reliability, attention to detail, hand-eye coordination, a strong work ethic, and teamwork in a production environment. The position may involve physically demanding work, and employees must be able to work their scheduled shift and may be required to work overtime depending on production demands.

Requirements

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Understand and follow oral and written instructions.
• Perform continuous or repetitive movements, including grasping, pinching, and flexing and extending the arms.
• Have good hand-eye coordination and attention to detail.
• Stand on concrete and/or platforms for up to a 12-hour shift.
• Be willing and able to work around animal blood and/or carcass parts.
• Work with a knife if trained.
• Work in cold areas of approximately 20–40 degrees and/or warm areas over 100 degrees.
• Work in wet and humid conditions, noisy environments, and around strong smells or odors.
• Wear a hard hat, hearing and eye protection, steel-toed safety shoes, and other required personal protective equipment.
• Work with sanitation and cleaning chemicals.
• Climb or move on ladders, steps, stairways, walkways, and platforms; bend, stoop, and twist repetitively; and walk long distances.
• Meet the role's physical demands, which may include repetitive overhead lifting up to 30 pounds, lifting objects up to 60 pounds, or using mechanical assistance to lift objects.
• Work the scheduled shift; overtime may be required depending on production demands.
• May need certification to operate equipment required for the position.

• Help maintain a safe and efficient production line and contribute to food safety, quality, and teamwork.
