About The Position

We are looking for a talented Product Functional Test Maintenance Tech - Level IV to join our team specializing in Engineering for our Cummins Inc. facility in Jamestown, NY. In this role, you will make an impact by maximizing equipment reliability through proactive maintenance and repair of laboratory and facility systems, strengthening multi-craft capability by supporting technicians across disciplines, leading facility and construction projects, ensuring safe and efficient facilities, improving planning and coordination, developing others through training and mentoring, and driving continuous improvement. You will model professional ownership by managing your workload independently, adjusting priorities, participating in audits, and committing to ongoing learning.

Responsibilities

  • Maximize equipment reliability by proactively maintaining and repairing laboratory and facility systems, ensuring machinery and services stay available and performing at their best.
  • Strengthen multi‑craft capability by supporting technicians across disciplines and applying broad mechanical, HVAC, and troubleshooting expertise to keep operations running smoothly.
  • Lead facility and construction projects by initiating needs assessments, coordinating with engineers, managing contractors, and making informed decisions that improve infrastructure and space utilization.
  • Ensure safe, compliant, and efficient facilities through diligent oversight of building systems, adherence to safety standards, and rapid response to issues that could impact people or operations.
  • Improve planning and coordination by managing schedules, materials, and workflows that keep maintenance activities organized, timely, and aligned with operational priorities.

  • Prepare samples correctly, verify equipment calibration, and follow approved procedures.
  • Document methods, settings, results, and analysis.
  • Interpret requirements, select the right equipment and instrumentation, integrate software, and ensure the lab’s capability matches the test’s needs.
  • Translate test plans into safe, compliant physical setups, including fabrication of fixtures or systems using appropriate materials and methods.
  • Assemble components, install instrumentation, and prepare articles so they can withstand and perform through the full functional test cycle.
  • Interpret maintenance data, identify trends, and implement strategies that improve equipment reliability and support continuous improvement.
  • Analyze issues systematically, determine root causes, implement data-driven solutions, prevent recurrence, and mentor others in effective problem-solving approaches.
  • Coordinate across cross-functional teams, including engineering, suppliers, materials, purchasing, plant support, and external contractors.
  • Lead concept development and cross-functional reviews.
  • Develop project timelines, cost estimates, and resource plans to support approval processes.
  • Create Quote/RFA, coordinate contractors, track budgets, and provide regular status updates through project completion.
