About The Position

At a Glance Legrand has an exciting opportunity for a Product Environment Compliance Engineer to join the Starline Team in Canonsburg, PA. The Product Environmental Compliance Engineer plays a key role in ensuring Starline’s products meet all applicable environmental, chemical, and material compliance requirements across global markets. This role supports the development and continuous improvement of compliance processes, conducts detailed product‑ and material‑level assessments, and prepares accurate regulatory documentation and declarations. The engineer monitors emerging regulations, such as hazardous substance restrictions, packaging/EPR mandates, and digital compliance requirements, and evaluates their impact on the product portfolio. By collaborating with cross-functional teams, the role translates regulatory obligations into actionable product requirements and maintains the tools, data, and workflows necessary for reliable, auditable compliance. What Will You Do? Keep Starline products legally conformant & market-ready across global regions by operating evidence-based compliance programs and delivering on‑time regulatory submissions: REACH + SCIP ops RoHS & CE files PFAS/TSCA readiness Prop 65, VOC, EU POPs, WEEE Conflict & Extended Minerals Reporting Digital Product Passport Coordinate environmental and material compliance data across Starline, ensuring accurate collection, traceability, and communication. Prepare required product documentation for certifications, declarations, and market‑access submissions. Support compliance reporting and respond to regulatory and customer requests with timely, accurate information. Manage relationships with external consultants and vendors supporting regulatory assessments, testing, and documentation. Participate in the LNCA Product Sustainability & Compliance Committee, sharing regulatory updates, findings, and business impacts. Support engineering, packaging, and material changes by providing compliance requirements and working within the ECN/ECR process to ensure all product updates remain compliant and documentation stays current. Maintain an internal compliance audit process to routinely verify product and material compliance records and ensure alignment with evolving regulatory requirements.

Requirements

  • Minimum BS in a technically related degree. Specific experience may serve to offset education.
  • 2-4 years’ relevant experience. Has obtained general industry experience that complements a broad base.
  • Working understanding of key environmental compliance regulations and standards along with the ability to work at a granular level towards compliance for individual products.
  • Proficient in environmental regulatory requirements (REACH, RoHS, Prop 65, TSCA, PFAS, etc).
  • Solid project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities across departments.
  • Familiarity with engineering documentation, drawings, BOMs, and change control processes.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and data visualization/reporting tools.
  • Broad understanding of Engineering principles, materials and manufacturing processes. Must demonstrate or obtain an understanding of the compliance technical requirements.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills and be able to communicate effectively across all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to sit for prolonged periods of time.
  • Able to lift and carry up to 25lbs.
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally, as required, up to 10% of the time.
  • The performance of this position may occasionally require exposure to the manufacturing areas where, under certain areas, the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses and mandatory hearing protection are required.
